Did you know that monkeys brachiate?

LOL. :lol: That's not a random fact. It's a very common fact.

What's random is my use of the word "brachiate". :lol:

* brachiate (verb) means swing from one hold to the next

* * *

Brachiation
animal behaviour

"Brachiation, in animal behaviour, specialized form of arboreal locomotion in which movement is accomplished by swinging from one hold to another by the arms. The process is highly developed in the gibbon and siamang, which are anatomically adapted for it in the length of their forelimbs, their long hooklike fingers, and the mobility of their shoulder joints. The South American spider monkey, considered a semibrachiator, uses its prehensile tail as a third arm. Spider monkeys both run along branches and swing from them.

Because bipedal locomotion is the terrestrial form of movement in the true brachiators, some researchers believe that the human species may have evolved from a protobrachiator. Other researchers have tried to demonstrate that the so-called knuckle-walking apes (e.g., the gorilla) are descended from brachiating ancestors. They base this theory on the characteristically long arms and curved fingers of knuckle-walkers."

People often get alligators and crocodiles mixed up. People like me. And there's no excuse for the confusion. Alligators are in the Florida Everglades and I'm from Florida and I know that. Sometimes the alligators even end up in people's pools at their homes. Whereas crocodiles are in Australia. ... I think. ... Right? :?

Though it may be legal the only reason that I can think for marrying a dead person would be to gain access to any wealth they left behind. After all, you can't take it with you!

"For you brought nothing into this world and it certain that you will carry nothing out."

What an odd law. :? :?

In Maryland, it used to be a law ("It was a marital license to kill,"), where a man could get away with killing his wife if he suspected her of infidelity. No proof needed. Just a suspicion was good enough. Although if she were caught in the act that fact might be useful during sentencing. The men were not tried for murder. It was for a lesser charge.

The word exists. I don't know of any real case where a person has suffered from such a malady. That would be very sad indeed. It could mean a person is afraid of their own mother.
