Are paid app raters ruining the market?

Postby nozomi2015 » 22 Jun 2015, 03:38

I am a freelancer and do quite a bit of work on sites like freelancer.com and fiver. One thing I've been seeing more and more of is someone willing to pay another five or ten dollars to give a app one hundred five star ratings. what are your thoughts?

Everyone wants their app to do well. However, I don't think it is fair to the general public to buy paid 5 star reviews. If you have a good app, you will get good reviews.

I have once done 2 jobs on Freelancer both very easy. The employer wanted me to write Amazon reviews and 5 star rate it. He paid me $20 for 2 reviews. I needed money so wasn't really thinking about any of that. As a general rule though it isn't fair to the public. When I give mobile app reviews I try and use the product first even if it is a paid review.

When a review is paid by the app owner isn't a free review... if an app isn't good you can have hundreds 5 stars reviews that people wont use that app.
In a certain way I approve that paid reviews because people follow others opinions (I do that) and experiences. But they wont receive the investment if the app isn't good!

Allius explained everything.

You can pay for 5 star reviews. You will get other people's opinion but if the app isn't like it should be you got nothing.

You will lose your money ( you won't profit ).

Just make quality apps and pay for app advertising. Then app downloads and feedback will rise.

I think it sucks. I think all kinds of paid reviews are damaging and should have to include a disclaimer that it's a paid review. It's getting to the point where people won't bother considering reviews any more, since they're all bought and paid for.

I guess I should just be cashing in on those jobs, but it makes me feel dirty lol.
