The good news is there are many common foods believed to be aphrodisiacs and even if they aren't, you won't care!

In ancient times, Mandrakes were prized for their “special powers”. Mandrake in Hebrew means “love plant”.

The ancient Hebrews believed it could make a woman fertile so she could bear children. In the biblical book of Genesis there is an interesting story about two sisters, Rachel and Leah. Rachel begged for Leah to give her mandrakes so she that could become pregnant. Ironically, Leah got pregnant but Rachel? She had to keep trying. Eventually she did have children. But it had nothing to do with mandrakes.

Nowadays it seems “mandrake is the herb that time has forgotten”. Everybody didn't forget. J.K. Rowling remembered it for Harry Potter. Never underestimate the value of thorough research.

Yes, I too read it somewhere. But, whether it will fly up to India or not I do not know.

Oysters are said to be aphrodisiacs too. I am not sure how much these are true as it may just be mind over matter. If you believe it enough then it probably will happen. Interesting read though. Thanks for sharing it. I love the artistic rendering of the mandrake.

Sounds strange to me but French used honey is a natural form of sugar which was considered an ideal food item for long hours spent in the bedroom. They say that newly weds used to drink honey wine (or maybe they still do because I read it in 2008) to increase their sexual stamina.

Doing research on this I found some a court case where a man was convicted for giving women drinks laced with Spanish Fly. They died. It's a true court case. I assume it's true. It was on Wikipedia.

Maybe you posted it as a humor post but the fact is that people have been finding newer ways to increase their stamina all the time experimenting on different herbs, foods, animals and whatever they can think off. Men are more active in this field because they are lesser capable.
