The people who live in the coastal Texas cities are bracing for Hurricane Harvey. I am in Texas but I live in the capital city, Austin, which is not in the hurricane's path. Praying the people will be safe. Even if property is destroyed it can be replaced or rebuilt but not so with human lives. It's so strange. The weather where I am is so nice and so calm. But the weather in cities that are not really that many miles away from me is gray, windy, rainy, scary. We will be watching the reports throughout the day.

Today is holiday here in the Philippines. We are celebrating, National Heroes Day. At work, since we have inventory, we have a work and I even rendered Over time. I am paid double today plus over time. I felt ill during the morning but I decided to get up and went to work because I know it will be a little boring during the day and I will feel sad again, so I worked instead.

* * We have been glued to the news reports watching updates on Texas cities hit hard by Hurricane Harvey. It's unbelievable what is happening to Houston. We live in Austin, Texas and all we can do is watch from a distance. Several years ago however we used to live in Houston. When I think back I used to get so annoyed about a little bit of flooding because my kids couldn't play at the playground. But the streets never turned into a river! Now there are people trapped in their homes and can't get out. It's incredible! I have never seen anything like it.

I feel very sorry for the people affected by Hurricane Harvey, I can only imagine how difficult it is to have their homes destroyed and their physical safety endangered like that. Hopefully it will be over soon.

Soon? Not sure about that "soon" part. But Texans are tough and all of the Americans are pulling together. I'm sure we'll make it through this storm. Thanks for your encouraging words though.

I've been taking it easy today because I'm rechargingmy batteries before I start a new job on Friday. Yesterday I went into my old job for the farwell do my old team kindly threw for me. I'm excited but slightly nervous. I don't know about y'all, but I hate being the new guy in work LOL

* * Still tracking the status of what's happening with my fellow Texans as a result of Hurricane Harvey. Is there anyone here from India? Saw a news report yesterday on the impact of the monsoon on Mumbai. The city is at a stand still. It looks like Houston except for the reaction of the people. They don't seem to be stunned by the force of Mother Nature. Folks in Houston and other parts of Texas are like in shock!

My day is just beginning here in the UK but I am planning to take my granddaughter and her friend to the park today where there is play equipment and a splash pad; we will take a picnic with us. She is back to school next week so not much time left for play.
