To be honest I don't know if I have found any particularly beautiful but I do like photosharing sites where some of the pictures are breathtaking. There were some really lovely pictures on Rabadaba.

The graphica and the layout matters. Pleasant pictures and beautiful colours makes all the difference. I haven't found one in particular to name here but there must be plenty out there unexplored.

Its a bit hard to recall the most beautiful website that I have ever seen as this registers briefly on one's memory. Definitely, simplicity and balance count alot. I think Probux (went under but has resurfaced) made an imprint in my mind. I have not checked whether they have changed their designs.

Well I agree that photo sharing sites can look beautiful because of the photos on it, because I've seen some stunning and mesmerizing images by some of the top photographers and they can lit up any web page.
But I am asking purely for web designs, the beautiful and elegant web designs out there.

I don't think I can say at the top of my head. But I have specific taste when it comes to websites. I much prefer clean, 'fresh' lines; absolutely no clutter. So basically, a minimalist site with a very modern feel. I also like for it to have a nice combination of colours. I recently saw two sites that put me off for life....one was way too red, while the other was way too green. They were both cluttered and had all these horrible pop up adverts I hate to see.

The branding and formatting have to be on point for me to stick around or keep returning.

If I would be a judge for such a contest, I don't think I can have a good answer to that question of which is the best website or which is the most beautiful website. It's just too difficult to evaluate websites.

Remember, 'beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder'. Given that a website would comprise various components including color scheme, font style, and general layout, it would be difficult to come to a unanimous agreement as to which of the millions of existing sites is the 'most beautiful'.

It would be hard to name a single site that I can call beautiful. I personally like websites that are clean with very little or no clutter at all, no pop-ups, soothing pastel colors etc. But one site that I really like is Pinterest because of the stunning pictures and pleasing layout it has in its various categories, especially the garden category.

It is also necessary to bear in mind that most users, especially the technically-savvy, do not necessarily asses a site based on looks.

For me beautiful sites are those which are related to nature like mountains, snowfall,forest etc.

I couldn't have said it better myself, germainebull.....that's just off putting. In fact, I never return to such sites. Those spammy adverts aren't even always placed properly on the site and can obstruct some articles. I'd rather earn a big fat zero rather than clutter my site with them. To each their own, I guess.

I think OP means symbolic beauty. It could as well be literal beauty, as in color scheme and layout.

I think,that a website is beautiful,when it makes me feel better looking at him,reading him.I like websites with beautiful pictures,and useful articles.But this is not a guarantee for a website's success.You have to advertise it the right way,to bring many visitors to your site,who eventually will return every week,to see if it something new on your website.
