Holistic Approach to Healthy Living

HOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALTHY LIVING

It would be a fantasy if those practicing different disciplines in the medical field would recommend that which does not come under the discipline that they follow and practice.

The various disciplines – allopathy, homoeopathy ayurveda, naturopathy, unani, yoga, reiki, et al are independent of each other.

No single discipline can vouch for complete cure but one hardly comes across doctors who go by the ‘Holistic approach to healthy livng’ concept

And then there are Specialists who concentrate on just one part of the body – Optholmalagists, ENT Specialists, Cardiologists, Nephrologists – the list is endless.

The plight of a patient that suffers from more than one ailment gets appointments with different doctors. In the absence of co-ordination it is possible what one prescribes for one ailment can go against another For example what one takes for lungs may not suit one that also has liver issues.

It is time doctors realize this shortcoming and embrace holistic approach to healthy living
The number of General Practioners are on the decline and they normally help co-ordinate various health issues and direct the patient to the specialists concerned.

These days patients are handled by machines. Gone are the days when the doctor held the patient’s hand, felt the pulse, checked the tongue, etc. This approach had a great positive effect on the patient.

Home visits are a thing of the past and that again created a nice bonding between the doctor the patient and the family

It is not understood why doctors do not feel the need to go the holistic way.
. When a medicine is prescribed doctors do not tell the patient of its side effects and that again is an issue that needs attention

And last but not the least and that is the arrival of AI. Will doctors resort to AI to help diagnose? Will this become a rule than an exception? The tendency of human beings is to get ready answers that save their time and effort and AI is a feature that has the ability to get ready answers in split seconds. May be the doctor will have to just feed the AI symptoms and answers come in seconds.

With AI round the corner it is not known what other frustrating experiences a patient will have to put up with.
Progress is what one looks forward to but if that hinders and disturbs mankind is the so called progress really necessary?

It is true that no single discipline can claim complete cure. Often doctors focus on only one piece of health and forget that the body is a whole system. A holistic approach is like looking at the whole field instead of one plant because health involves the body, mind and spirit together.

It is like the story of Asklepios, the god of medicine for the Greeks who had the ability to see the whole body and heal in a comprehensive way. A holistic approach is like his snake wand circling the whole body, bringing balance and new strength. But very few doctors use that approach and that is why patients miss out on a complete cure.

That is a good example. As for me I resort to many disciplines myself. I am a Reiki Channel too
