How can you exercise gratefulness? To be short, simple and sweet, below are 15 different examples! There has got to be an example to fit you. Here we go…

1. Jar with personal sayings

Write little sayings on small pieces of paper about how much you love the person and place in the jar. Preferably enough for a year. Tell them to pull one out once each day!

2.Homemade gift certificate

Create a gift certificate for any type of service that you want to do for free for the special person.

3.Free subscription to a magazine

Years ago, I got a subscription to “Self” magazine and got addicted to the magazine!

4.Home-cooked meal

I have always loved to prepare fried potato wedges for my mother!

5.Play a game

I love playing “Checkers” with a loved one!

6.Babysit

Do you know of a couple who need a break?

7.Do grocery shopping

What would really be neat is if you would shop for ingredients and items that are new to them and then teach them how to prepare the dishes!

8.Prepare some mocktails

Prepare a pitcher or 2 of mocktails to celebrate!

9.Fix their hairdo and make-up

Late at night, after my mother was home from work and very exhausted, I played beautician and would fix her hair and do her make-up. She would tell myself how much she loved the pampering.

10.Wash their dishes

Is it a holiday and a loved one threw a dinner? Why not wash the dishes? My family never owned an automatic dishwasher so my mother and I would call ourselves “armstrong dishwashers”! LOL

11.Wash their laundry

Know a big family or a newborn baby?

12.Clean their house

I, personally, like to clean house for people.

13.Say thank you

Saying “thank you” doesn’t cost a penny.

14.Give a hug

I love giving hugs! Here in the United States, we have a saying “hugs not drugs”!

15.Give a fist bump

Fist bumps came around when the coronavirus began. People could not hug or shake hands. So, fist bumps were the next best thing. People today still do it!

Finally, these are mainly free or very inexpensive. Joyce Meyer often says to do something good for someone else whenever you are in a funk, then you can automatically feel much better. So, personally, I like to bless someone when I am both grateful and in a funk.

These days we now live in a world where saying thank you is becoming pretty hard for people to say. We don't need to do huge things to show we are grateful, a little sincere thank you is more than enough.

One that I forgot to mention is a small gift. When I was a little girl, my mother would give myself a few dollars and then would drive myself to a gift shop to buy her a little knick-knack.

Saying thank you is completely free, it doesn't cost anything but its impact is huge, that's like a Chinese proverb saying a small word can open big doors, gratitude carries pure power.

It's like the metaphor of aboriginals drawing on rocks to show roots standing strong, gratitude when given increases trust and the vibe runs like a bullet train, a lantern lights the way in the dark and sakura vibes bloom, fresh ninja moves

Yesterday, I went to the salon to get a much-needed change of hairstyle.

I went to a different hairdresser as my hairdresser is always booked and I was desperate.

The new hairdresser was a guy and quite comical.

I went from being a lengthy shag to a short spikey pixie in about an hour.

What I really like is that the new "do" is low maintenance and kind of cute.

He did a good job and he worked hard.

So, when I went to pay, I gave him a really good tip. He got the biggest smile then told myself his name! I was a total walk-in not knowing his name.

Those are beautiful ways to show gratitude but not all will show gratitude and I have that experience.

That is common for people to forget what others have done for them. You are lucky that you have not experienced it
