Postby ptrikha21 » 25 Oct 2025, 11:39

Archaeologists in Turkey have unearthed a remarkable 1,200-year-old carbonized loaf of bread depicting the image of Jesus Christ.
The artifact was found at the Topraktepe site, once the ancient city of Eirenopolis, this artifact dates back to the 7th or 8th centuries A.D.

Officials confirmed the unique depiction shows Christ as a sower or farmer, symbolizing fertility and labor.
Inscribed with the phrase, "With gratitude to the Blessed Jesus," specialists suggest the relic represents rare communion or Eucharist bread, underscoring its historical importance to early Christian rituals

A recent discovery in Turkey has intrigued historians and religious scholars around the world: a 1,200-year-old burnt loaf of bread bearing the image of Jesus Christ. The loaf was found at the Topraktepe site, formerly known as the ancient city of Erenopolis, and is estimated to date back to the 7th or 8th century A.D.

What makes this treasure so unique is the image of Jesus painted on the loaf, showing him as a farmer—a symbol of fertility and labor. In addition, the inscription on the loaf reads: “With gratitude to the Blessed Jesus,” suggesting that the loaf may have been part of a Eucharistic celebration or early Christian communion.
