This is a weird thing for random people to be weighing in on. No fault divorce is a thing in a many countries now. Anybody is free to divorce their spouse at any time for any reason. Odd that she's sharing it, but I'm not sure what the point is of people making a big deal out of it. It's one woman making her own choice.
Speaking as a gen x-er, the reasons some of my friends have given for getting married are:
- money (weddings are expensive- yes you can have a cheaper ceremony, but if you're also not religious and don't want a big wedding you can just live together and not actually get married at all)
-They have seen their parents in bad marriages and/or messy divorces and don't want that.
Don't judge people who stay with abusive partners. Leaving an abusive spouse is dangerous so it makes total sense to be afraid to.
