Melting and death of Glaciers: An increasingly worrying global problem

Postby ptrikha21 » 01 Jun 2025, 15:37

"Ice Funeral" ceremony of a Glacier - Yala Glacier in Nepal.
Massive Melting of a Glacier in Switzerland and subsequent flooding of villages and evacuation.
Retreating or thinning of many glaciers the world over.

Clearly for all to see that this is an increasingly worrisome problem for the whole world.
Increasing Global Climate change and warming is proving disastrous for many Glaciers.
And today, if so many glaciers are getting damaged or becoming extinct, it means that it would be disastrous for the whole human race tomorrow for Water supply and henceforth the Human civilization as well.

Are we doing enough?
Do we still need to be "told" to wake up?

I believe that inside us, we do know the answers!

Yet even the rest of the world is not doing enough.
A lot of deforestation happened in Brazil and the Amazon Rainforest ecosystem has been disturbed.

Simple things you can, Plant trees in Tropics and deserts. In case of cold regions, they need more grass and less trees. Thats why they try to revive mammoths to get more grass and less trees. Grass in cold places will stop carbon deposits from going to the sky.

True, at an individual level, nations are taking different steps.
However, collectively, a lot more cooperation is needed.
That is missing to a big extent.

Human beings have ignored so many wake up calls and they still continue to do so. We are already late on timeline. But we can still be hopeful that we have not totally missed. While some damages are done for good, it's still time to cease some and even reverse some with our little efforts in each day lives.

Yeah... the issue isn’t awareness anymore, it’s political will. We know what to do: reduce emissions drastically, protect critical ecosystems, and transition to sustainable energy. The science is clear, the consequences are visible, and yet action remains half-hearted

And yes, efforts are required from every one.
When I still see even many well educated and rich folks littering in tourist and other outdoor places and wasting water and electricity, it disheartens me.

If people in different countries are educated and made ready about doing good for the environment, they would do it.
It is often the Political class that shows a lack of will.
