Fresh out of college with a degree in computer programming, he had been shopping for something and dealing on the phone with a live operator at the vendor. She was having some sort of problem with the order form and had called in a supervisor to complete the order.
As my nephew listened to the conversation between the operator and the supervisor, he could tell what they were talking about with the glitch. He began to give them some instruction to find and correct the issue. Seems they had been having this issue for quite sometime and their own IT Staff had not been able to get it corrected.
It was fixed! They were astounded. The supervisor asked my nephew where he was working and he explained he was fresh out of college and had not yet landed a job. They hired him immediately, starting at $50 K per year. No other interview, no background checks, no references. Just "When can you start?" He wasn't even looking for a job yet. Now that is an accidental new job!
Not a bad start for an income well above the norm at the time. That was back when a good salary was around $35 K per year for someone with experience.

How is your nephew now? Is he retired?
I worked part-time jobs and had internships all throughout school. I wanted to become an attorney or a political writer. Between my high school/university sweetheart, work, studying, etc., I just wasn't good enough.
I applaud your nephew's achievement.
