Downtime on Fri 14 Feb 2025

Postby Fergal » 09 Feb 2025, 06:10

I have received this notification from HawkHost in relation to the hosting service they provide to us here on ForumCoin. I'm very sorry but ForumCoin will be offline for between 10 and 24 hours on Friday 14 Feb 2025.

I hope that our members and visitors will be patient and continue to participate once we are back online.

You are receiving this notice as your service forumcoin.com is hosted with Hawk Host in our Los Angeles, CA, USA data center. Beginning at 5:00AM PST (13:00 UTC) on Friday February 14th, Hawk Host engineers will be taking all services in our Los Angeles data center offline to perform a data center migration. Due to the nature of this migration, we anticipate up to 24 hours of downtime to safely complete this work.

Your hosting service details, IP addresses, and other hosting information will not change as a result of this migration. Your hosting data will remain safe throughout this event and no data loss is anticipated.

We understand the impact this downtime can have on your operations, and we apologize for that inconvenience. Our team is taking all possible precautions to minimize downtime. The decision to migrate to a new data center was made to ensure future health of Hawk Host's Los Angeles operations.

It will seem like a long time without but we should be able to survive. Thanks for the heads up to prevent panic.

Just in case anyone might wonder how the UTC time zone compares to "home", this map might help members figure out when this outage is happening in your own time zone.

Thank you for the update. I itch to be here whenever I get a free time. And if I am free during that time, it will be a tough wait. But it is necessary and understandable.

I didn't notice any such maintenance shutdown on Friday or Saturday. Did I miss it? Hope that the maintenance work is over without any hassle.

Yes. ForumCoin was offline for approximately 17 hours Friday (based on the gap between log in records). All is done and all is well. Now we just need to have enough members wake up and log in to continue with normal site activity. Quite a surprising number have not yet logged in since the downtime, but Saturdays are normally a slower day anyway. Sorta seems like the lights are on but nobody is home.
