Pop For Gamers: Why it is better to invest on a gaming PC over a console

Postby Netherrealmer » 10 Nov 2018, 20:44

I am a gamer and I am not ashamed of it even though a lot of people looks down on it. If I have the budget needed I will definitely pursue a career on game streaming. Usually fans of gaming consoles always debate on what is the best gaming platform, There is always a debate between the fanboys of Playstation and Xbox. I am actually a collector of consoles but I can assure this.... I agree with this meme:

Image

Why is it better to be a PC gamer?

1.Consoles gets obsolete in just 6 to 8 years. My friend purchased a Ps3 and in just 3 years Ps4 got released. With PC you wont need to buy a whole new machine to stay in with the trend. You just need to upgrade some parts. A gaming PC can last multiple decades. Also most games from XBOX and Playstation gets released in PC anyway. Oh Playstation have exclusive... Well those exclusive will eventually get available on Playstation emulators. So All games will eventually be available on PC. Also if you know how to bargain and where to buy, you can having a gaming PC for a cheaper price.

2. If you are a streamer, You will need less machines to do your stream.

If you stream games on Youtube and twitch with a PC game, this is your setup:
Image

If you are going to stream a console game, you will need a console, another extra monitor for that console, another pc and the list goes on. Some Streamers just use one pc alone! So streaming with pc can be less complicated. It is like an electric bill nightmare. I will only consider the console streaming setup if I am already profiting.

3. Better graphics. Look at the graphics comparison of the three released versions of the game Evil Within 2.
Image I see more details with the PC version. As long as you have the best graphics card, a 10 year old PC can play a triple A title game usually played on consoles.

4. It is easier to find parts to repair a PC. My Playstation 2 got broken, I can't find someone who can repair it because it's parts are now considered obsolete. Oh My Xbox one, when it got broken, It took me forever to find a guy who can repair it. PC parts and PC repair guys are easier to find.

5. larger library- if I feel nostalgic and I want to play an old game, I can do that with a PC. If I want to play the most popular new game, I can do that with a PC too. A gaming PC have a larger selection of games both old and new. Also old games can also look new with all the available mods. With a PC I can play games from the late 80's and games to be released on 2020.

6. Mods are Awesome. Lara Croft use to be a sex symbol in the video game world. I mean Angelina Jolie played her on a movie. Suddenly the feminist don't want female characters to be sexy. So Now Lara Croft dresses like this:
Image

Because they think a female warrior should wear practical clothes. Well the PC version managed to have this:
Image
Fans made a mod to bring back the classic design of the character they grew up with in their childhood. Character costumes are not the only flaws mods can fix. Some mods on PC can make a game you played 100 times felt like a new game again.

7.PC is cheaper- You can actually turn the PC you are using right now into an ultimate gaming machine buy replacing some parts.

8.Your Gaming Pc have other use aside from gaming. Did you know some non gamers who only uses PC for their job prefers using a gaming PC because it has better performance and has less lags than regular PCs.

I don't like consoles to play, so my advice is the PC. You can do so much more with a PC as long as you get a machine with a powerful graphics card. Besides a PC will also have a longer life than a console and you can get the games much cheaper.

I had been loving pc versions of the games because of mods. Mods can increase the replay value even of old games.

Until the new one is released. Consoles have expiration dates. In case of pc you will just replace parts.

Although I have all sony consoles, I must agree with you. Nowadays I prefer a pc to play video games...

@fergus1234 , @Allius _ i use the console but only for watching videos. But I get what you're saying as my kids have replaced their consoles. I think the latest one was a PS4.

I have to say that your arguments are very convincing. I think my son may got this wrong! It's no biggie. I don't listen to his advice and tips anyway. Hey! He don't listen to mine! :D

Also for the non gamers, Gaming pc can handle much more abuse than non gaming pc.

So I was playing thr Resident evil 3 remake demo and I dont like Jill Valentine's New design. Her new model is Sasha Shutova who is a pretty girl but I prefer Jill Valentine when she looks like Julia Voth.

This is what Jill Valentine looks like now
Image

Thanks to mods, Jill can look like this again.

I am still pissed they replaced her because she becomes a Union actor, so they go for a Russian model for cheaper labor.

The simple fact of being able to play with emulators on the PC gives you a huge window against any console, secondly the fact of being able to install mods easily, in addition to many other things, I think that today consoles are in a kind of "decadence" although the Switch is popular, they are all at a standstill, because also with the cell phones that exist today you can perfectly play any game that you could play on a portable console, so gaming clearly points to PCs and smartphones

Yes gaming PC has other uses aside from gaming as you can use it for your jobs. Again, gaming PC has better performance and has less lags as well which I have noticed
