Alternative to electric vehicles

Postby mrki444 » 05 Feb 2023, 19:13

Mazda CEO Martijn ten Brink start talk bad about EU since EU say now everybody must produce electric vehicles. He thinks there are other technologies which can also produce 0 CO2 emission in cars so it can be effective as electric vehicles.

I explore some alternative cars and find this one.

RG Nathalie or The Gumpert Nathalie is sport car running on alcohol. You can't fill it with whiskey but you can with methanol - water combination and it will drive you for 800km.

If we lower 200hp into something smaller with can get good city compact car. Production already started and it will be made only 500 cars.

Why EU don't support there type of engine? Japan is considering some engines on hydrogen.

What do you think about alternatives with 0 CO2 emission?

I think if we just get rid of gas guzzlers (like the Hummer and huge pickups) we could cut back to solve the problem for a while. Then we could introduce electrics slowly while we solve the additional problems they introduce.

In Europe many cars spend only 4-5 liters of diesel per 100 km but still they are not wanted anymore, at least by goverment regulations.

In India, Ethanol blended Fuel is now beginning to get used mixed with Petrol (Gasoline).
This would reduce the emissions.
Yet it needs to be seen how the emissions reduction goes on the actual ground.

Some agency from the USA could tell you, we have been using 10% Ethanol for years.

I don't know if methanol would even be cheaper and more environmentally friendly than PMS and diesel in the long run

I don't think so since for methanol is produced from sugar cane, which is mostly produced in the tropics. The increase in methanol demand will cause an increase in the clearing of tropical forests to meet the demand for sugar cane and methanol.
