Desperately Asking For A Recipe

Postby Spontaneo » 29 Jun 2023, 19:28

I cannot find a recipe for this..

A slow cooker potato salad recipe where you leave the skin on and without eggs. I want to use bottled ranch salad dressing instead of a mix.

Do you have such a recipe?

I love potato salad.

First of all when making potato salad, you do not make it in a slow cooker. You do peel potatoes and then boil them in a pot of water. Then you let them cool down and cube them. Then add, mayo, and what ever seasoning you like. I also put hard boiled eggs in mine. After that put it in the fridge and then enjoy it cold .

Well, I do prepare German potato salad with kielbasa in the Crock-Pot. I just want a cool version of potato salad leaving the skin on and without eggs. In German potato salad with kielbasa, one does leave the skin on.

I guess that I should simply create my own recipe.

So finally you are able to get tbe desired recipe?
Or did you try something purely on your own?

You could get the recipe on YouTube. That is where I go whenever I want to cook something new.

Looks like you're going to need to come up with your own. Just experiment. Personally I wouldn't use a slow cooker to make potato salad, I'd just cook the potatoes in the oven or the microwave (you can cook them with the skins on either way).

Edit: I googled 'slow cooker potato salad' and found this one which I think sounds nice. I think you and I have quite different taste in food though since I dislike mayo and ranch and you seem to use those a lot so YMMV.

 All the viral Barbie stuff is weird! That recipe actually sounds good, though.

I notice you have bumped this, Spontaneo. I did suggest a recipe. Did you not like it? I can't offer better suggstions if I don't know what you don't like about the ones I make. You often ask for recipes, then ignore my suggestions. I don't know what is wrong with them since you don't respond, so I guess I should just not make suggestions.

I apologize. I already know how to prepare German Potato Salad, but thank you.

I want a potato salad that I can prepare in the Crock-Pot and then consume once cooled off with ranch dressing.. Make sense?

How about this?

Cut russets up in chunks or coin-size pieces and put in Crock-Pot.

In bowl, mix water, vinegar, sugar, pepper, ...

Pour over potatoes. Throw in bullion.

Cook until tender. About 5 hours on HIGH.

Once finished, mash a little. Not alot.

Take the potato out of Crock-Pot and place into a big bowl. Let cool.

Pour ranch dressing all over and stir.

Voila! I created the recipe myself! Yay!

Actually, I have not. With my last bag of russets, I prepared a luncheon for my roommate, her boyfriend and myself of Crock-Pot baked potatoes. I keep forgetting to grab a bag of potatoes when grocery shopping. Thank you for reminding. I do have a new bottle of ranch in my pantry.
