Electric vehicle prospects

Postby germainebull » 11 Jun 2023, 11:58

I read somewhere online that the earth has only a finite amount of the raw materials required to manufacture electric vehicles. The author of this source thereby projected that electric vehicles will not exist in the next 50-100 years.
What do you think about this matter?

What materials do they actually need, i thought it was simply a matter of using rechargeable batteries for the car. I do not know though, i have little to no knowledge about this field. Lets just watch and see how things goes in the end.

By the next 50 years, we could see Electric vehicles with different combinations, apart from Lithium Ion.
There could be Hydrogen powered or some other kind of vehicles too.
So not to worry that much !

You need Lithium for battery. Battery from electric car can't be recylce and reused. That information rare who mention.

I understand that creating energy from hydrogen comes with a myriad of challenges. My hope is that the scientific community finds a sustainable avenue for going around these issues.
As it is, the world cannot endlessly keep mining the earth for the rare metals used in electric vehicle manufacture.

manufacture.

Let's hope that some other options than Hydrogen come into the picture that helps in Mobility and cuts on the Fossil Fuel usage.

One key problem with creating energy from hydrogen concerns how to safely handle the waste water that is produced. The waste water byproduct deriving from the process of splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen atoms is unlike ordinary water and, if released into nature carelessly, it could thus pose a danger to both the environment and humans. :?

Electric vehicles are already being used in many countries across the globe. A number of public service vehicle operators have embraced this concept by introducing fleets of such 'green' cars.

I have a feeling that you have come across these cars in your city and failed to realize it.

There is no single electric car in Africa. It would take time before we adopt that. We have a well documented power challenge.

The electric cars are not very popular in my country. I have never seen them physically for sure.

In my view, electric cars are not the future. We have many electric vehicles in my country. Not only are there buses that run on electricity, there are a wide range of personal saloon cars that have adopted this trend.
Electric cars are thereby the present.

In my country, we would be starting to see electric cars 10 years from today.
