The latest news from this segment is the introduction of subscriptions for airline flights. The company WizzAir plans to introduce a subscription for its regular passengers. Buy a package that allows you to buy one ticket regardless of the price for other passengers for a fixed amount of monthly subscription. For those who suddenly and often travel by plane, this seems like a very good option, because often the prices of plane tickets change.

The use of subscriptions is an interesting way for businesses to manage their cash flows and increase their revenues. Another area where I have seen something like this is on Amazon. If you are buying products such as stationery or batteries, Amazon will often offer the option to purchase a subscription - i.e. you pay a monthly fee and have x amount of the product delivered to you every month.

It is a useful concept for any business that can implement it - it brings in revenue every month and you have the benefit of keeping your customers without have to sell and market to them.

In my country, a local company is offering gas cylinders via a subscription business model. A user pays some defined amount every day. If he/she fails to pay, it becomes impossible to access the gas in the cylinder.
An ingenuous concept if you ask me.
