Drones as weapons

Postby mrki444 » 21 Mar 2023, 15:56

Drones have become very popular in a few years. Today, anyone can own a drone. Most often, these are small drones, but drones with a payload of several kilograms and a longer range can also be purchased.

Unfortunately, everything man makes also makes a fighting version. Weapons carrying drones or suicide drones are present in almost every military. Informed drones are present in every military in the world.
The Americans were the first to use drones for military purposes. They are currently the most famous Raptor drones.
Image
The Turkish drone Bayraktar became famous in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Image
That war also led to the popularity of the Iranian Mohajer-6 drone.

Light civilian drones can also be converted into suicide drones. A few kilograms of explosives can do a lot of damage.

Have you ever seen bigger drones? Maybe the ones in military uses or just the camera drones that many people use today?

Every war is different and now we are in an era where it is possible to drop weapons/bombs without going off the sofa.

That is present for longer time. In some countrys for bigger drones you must have driving license and permit.
I got one offer to get certificate for drone driving but I give up. I don't have time for it.

Personally, I found one line very beautiful.
Please, allow me to quote again -
"Unfortunately, everything man makes also makes a fighting version. "

Really great thought.
Thank you for having such peaceful thoughts.

Only if they are outside. For indoor spaces drones are not good. They still require very precise driving and in indoor space is to much obstacles like doors. Drone can't open door because of propellers.

I know it's impractical. I'm just angry and use every opportunity I can to vent about these mass shootings. Actually, I do know of an incident where the police used a robot to capture a mass shooter. Robots. Drones. Just take 'em out!

Maybe some rifle which can see trough walls or some robot with gun on it can be more effective but this is another topic.

Here is something possible for mass shooters. FPV (first person view) drones are small drones intend for driving in buildings. I guess they can add bullet on it with trigger.

These days almost everything and anything can be weaponized, even social media can be used as a weapon. Drones are still pretty much expensive in most areas though.

You can buy middle range drone for 200$. Here is example.
18 minutes fly up to 500meters. If you add some weight on it, it can go to 100m which is also great.

The huge potential for using drones as weapons is the greatest reason why this technology should be tightly regulated. Governments world over should create stringent rules meant to ensure that drones are only accessible and used by authorized entities.
I shudder at the thought of radicalized persons (terrorists etc) using drones to carry out their harmful activities.

People start talking about those very small drones. They were able add some explosive on it with remote detonator, drive drone in house trough open window and detonate it. Some bad people will need bars for windows.

Hmmm.
Who detonated the explistoves you are talking about? Can you kindly provide clarification on this subject?
Your comment sounds quite interesting and I'd like to obtain more information.

I even prefer drones as weapons but the ones used for combat are far sharper and advanced than this one.
