Pop The future of pets

Postby Netherrealmer » 17 Nov 2020, 19:18

Pets are like part of the family. Some of them can fill the void of loneliness humans can give us. They will love you unconditionally. Some people are already getting bored with regular cats and dogs so Scientists found solutions for those problems.

For $3000, Sony created Aibo a Robot dog that you can keep as a pet.

They can be affectionate and playful but unlike read dogs, they don't poop, they don't pee and this doggie doesn't need to eat. Because this dog is a robot it can live forever with proper maintenance.
If you want a bigger dog that can be used as a guard dog, There is this $75 thousand robot dog that can function as a guard dog. It looks headless though.

In an episode of Black mirror, these robot guard dogs became killers and caused the extinction of humanity.

If you are more of a cat person, robot cats exist too. No more need for cleaning litter boxes and spending money on neutering. It is not able to catch a mouse though.

These cats, dogs, fishes, rabbits, sheep, and mice started as experiments, They are injected with Jellyfish DNA. These animals glow in the dark.
Image

At this moment only the fish is commercially released. The pet stores are now selling the glow in the dark fish as a commercial pet. There is also a restaurant that uses the same fish to make glow in the dark sushi.

China recently made Genetically modified beagles that can be muscular. These bodybuilding dogs are marketed to bodybuilders who want their pets to be muscular too. Muscular dog breeds already exist with American Bulldogs and pitbull but yeah they want to make muscular small dogs.

Image

This hypoallergenic dog is genetically modified for people with dog allergies who wanted to have a dog.

Image

As far as I know, they are now commercially sold to people who wanted to buy them and they are very expensive. They are called designer dogs.

Miniature pigs are becoming a popular pet in the US because they live longer than cats and dogs and they are easier to toilet train. The problem with them though is you have to follow a certain diet to keep them small. Many of the so-called miniature pigs end up bigger than commercial Labrador retrievers.

Scientists in China just genetically modified pigs to be permanently piglets. These pigs will never grow big because their genes are manipulated to have dwarfism.

Image

These pigs are born from normal pigs and they cannot be used for breeding because they are intentionally sterile due to their dwarfism.
---

Domesticated Silver Foxes are expensive pets created by Russian scientists by natural selection. Look dogs use to be wolves but ancient humans always keep the most friendly puppies and make them breed while discards the violent ones. After thousands of years of natural selection, dogs evolved from wolves. Russians tried this method to create friendlier foxes so they can use them for fur factories. These domesticated silver foxes evolved in just 50 years of natural selection. They developed different colors of coats and they became friendlier to humans. They stopped the production of fur and now just sell these evolved silver foxes as pets. The Russian scientists are smart though, if you purchased one, they are already neutered upon delivery so you cant breed your own domesticated silver foxes.

These foxes lost their hunting instinct that they are friendly to cats and dogs.

I'm not an animal person and never cared to have pets. I'm fine with stuffed animals. I don't want robots.

I think robot pets would not be so bad idea. At least I would not see dogs unleashed on street walking without owners who abandom them. I am sorry for those animals. In this case, you can throw robot dog in garbage and or turn it off but not let it alone to suffer from hunger or attack kids for food.

I would not go for a robot pet,I have a preference of only dogs that i can keep as a pet.
As much as scientists have valid reasons and try to help the world by sorting out their problems at times I really think the really do run out of ideas of anything new to create.

You are right in what you say. I remember one time thinking that an invention was silly and not useful until someone else pointed out to me how it was a terrific aid to a handicapped person or a person with a disability. I didn't think of it that way. But now I'm not so quick to say that an invention does not have a legitimate purpose and use.

I am not interested in pets, but I read many time that some pets have sixth sense so they can guess many thing in advance like earth quake. I think it is not possible in robot. Pet dog is also helpful in security. In night they can guess if some one unknow person come in our hoses and they start barking. All these are not possible with a robot dog

What I love about pets is the unconditional love I get from them. I dont think a piece of tin metal can give that me.

Robot pets aren't real pets, it is just a machine and I see no point in having a machine instead of a real pet.

It is also weird bodybuilding dogs, if the dog's breed isn't a muscular one then choose one that is! I don't agree in doing this sort of things to animals.

I don't even like pet. Many times I see it as burden to the owner.

My dog saves me from a Taliban soldier so that is not a burden. A cat's purr decreases a person's chance of having heart attack. Human adults who still depend on their parents are bigger burden.

While me and my family are hiding, the dog distracted them and its him who got shot instead of us. Without that dog me and my family would have been dead.

I am always devastated when anything happens to my pets although I know they have a much shorter life span than a human. I have cried buckets over the loss of my pets and always say I won't have any more .. but I always do <3

A robotic dog might be fun for a while but it could in no way replace the unconditional love you get from a pet.

Pets have always been a part of the family, but with the pet/owner relationship being more of a parent/child bond, affection is stronger now than ever. As businesses compete to capitalize on the demands of pet owners, more and more individuals regard their pets like families rather than property, which has contributed to exponential growth and creativity in the pet product industry.

When I was younger, I used to love cats and dogs but after each of them passed away, I gave up keeping pets. It hurts so much to see them go. Future pets is a good idea for those lonely people, especially the old folks or mentally unstable people who need comfort and care.

Parrots and Miniature pigs are becoming popular because they live longer than cats and dogs. Parrots can live up to 30 years while miniature pig can live up to 60.
