Blogger vs wordpress

Postby kat82 » 29 Oct 2018, 06:41

For many of of those who are currently involved in content writing whether for fun or for cash, and those who want to join the blogging industry, it is very important to understand and know which is a better choice when it comes to the platform one can use.

In this, am referring to making a choice between the tw ie, blogger and WordPress. Why I bring the two is simple, blogger is very famous when it comes to startups as it helps you create a free blog hosted by google where it is possible to write everything.

On the other hand, WordPress is a popular platform available both for hosted and self hosted sites. WordPress too allows one to create a free blog and write any kind of content. Both the two have their different pros and cons over another and which is why understanding what you expect might be important towards helping you make a choice.

Both blogger and WordPress are offered by genuine companies with proven record when it comes to uptime. Yes, it is very rare to find a blogspot aka blogger blog or WordPress blog unreachable due to CPU usages or service outage since they both offer stable uptime which guarantees ones site to always be available. I assume many of you know what it means for a site to be always on right? Simply, you are worry free of loosing visitors or even missing sales as a result of outages.

Both the two allows you to add a custom domain name. Adding a custom domain name on your blogger blog is free for as long as you know how to do it. Additionally, blogger allows you to add a custom domain you can even buy from many other domain seller. On the other hand, WordPress requires you to buy the domain from them. Unless you upgrade to paid plan, adding your domain name might be difficult if you buy it from another provider. This way, you can instead go for self hosted WordPress since it is unlimited and will require you to install the cms in your own host or upgrade on the same WordPress so as to gain make use of the additional features.

When it comes to the kind of content you can post, each of the two have its own terms of usage with regard. Almost all of the two require user friendly kind of content. Hate speech, porn and etc. Unless you go for self hosted WordPress, it may be hard for you to post such content which are not allowed. Therefore the two cannot be used for hate, racism, porn and related content. Additionally, you are not allowed to spam. Spamming and other terms violation acts can lead to termination of your blog. This isn't the case with self hosted sites for WordPress.

In terms of seo, we all know that google is internet king. It takes a large share of the search engine. Therefore, having a blogger blog with quality content means favor from Google in terms of Ranking. On the other hand, a WordPress site with unique and quality content can also be indexed quick and favored by google. WordPress has plugins which are good at seo. You can chose what to do and how to do it for example using yoast seo.

One last but not least, WordPress allows you install any plugin of choice in the self hosted. The hosted one is limited. In the other hand, Google's blogger has no such plugins apart from a few customisation one can make.

Blogger is easy but not as Good as WordPress (the self hosted). For free users, Blogger is more beneficial.

There is no doubt about it WordPress is better than Blogger. Blogger or Blogspot was purchased by Google and offered to its users as a free blogging platform. But Google doesn't put any effort to making improvements. It's not one of their main products. Nevertheless, I'm happy it's there to use. If you have Google AdSense you can try to monetize your Blogger blog.

yes, that is right. I do agree with you for I am using Blogger platform for my 6 blogs for more than 7 years already. I find not hassle or problem in post. It is indeed very beneficial as a free hosting site.

I have one in WordPress.

Blogger is easier to use because of the free templates and the free widgets and also because it is directly linked to your AdSense account.
