Where are your new topics?

We started July with 175 topics listed under the New Posts link. There have only been 13 new topics added since July 1 and there are now only 135 topics listed in the New Posts link. 53 topics have expired from the New Post link since July 1. 13 new topics does not cover the retired topics.

New topics can only come from participating members. I've even offered a 25 FC bonus to each member who contributes at least 25 new topics during the month. You still get the regular token payment per new topic just as you receive for each new post.

We all need new topics of interest. If you post content to the site, you should feel obligated to do your part to provide new topics as part of your site participation.

Please do your best to post at least 1 new topic every day.

What topics would you like to see? I could come up with some for LUA and Unity game development code topics.

The whole point of asking all members to come up with new topics is to have a wide range of interests available for discussions. Try to make them interesting, and about topics that will add value to the site. Look at all the forum sections to see the range we have and choose ideas for new topics that are of interest for yourself. Give it your best shot. Be sure to watch for replies and be available to answer questions posed back to you.

Fergal also goes through and picks a "TOTW" (topic of the week) and awards the best on an ongoing basis.

As of July 7, we are now all the way up to 26 new topics for July. Thing is, we started at 175 new topics on July 1.
175 + 26 should put us at 201 topics in the New Posts link. However, the New Posts link is now down to 133 topics on display which means we are now up to 68 older topics that have expired at the same time.

That is only 26 new topics to replace 68 older topics. We need a lot more new topics every day to fill the gap.

@OldGuy the system of payment must be similar to Publish0X then people have intention to create topics where for example a post reply pays 0,50 FC while a topic pays 5,00 FC (reward sent after verif it is valid post), if a post and thread rewards are similar, no one will create threads.

Thanks for your comment. However, there are problems with such a solution.

First, we all need new topics all the time to even make it worth logging in to respond to what you can find. Even as it is, nearly half of all who log in each day are not posting anything during their visits. Many log in, look around, find nothing of interest and simply log back off within minutes. Some actually only log in to respond to an ad rather than post anything. Nothing new, this is as it has been for at least the last few years.

New topics simply offer a bigger variety to choose from when you feel like responding.

Second problem is that all topics have a maximum of a 7 day display after their latest post and then shuffle off to the archives. Members often go back through and bring up old topics of interest but don't seem to bother with most of the new topics as they appear. The vast majority of all new topics vanish with just 0 to 8 posts before they are gone. There is not enough funding to pay 5 FC for each new topic, especially when they have such a short lifespan and limited replies. Ad revenue simply won't cover any added costs. Ad revenue is not what it used to be. It is down for everyone.

I've been providing an updated list of all new topics since December, but most members are not even bothering to look at the growing list to find all that is available. Compare the New Post list, currently just over 130 topics including all the ancient stuff that keeps coming back to the nearly 2000 all new topics since December in that posted list I add to at the end of each month.

Bottom line is that new topics can only come from currently active members. If you want to reply to topics that show up, you should also feel obligated to add new topics of your own as you go along. The pay per post is the same whether you are responding to a topic or adding a new topic. I have been offering a 25 FC bonus to each new member who contributes 25 or more new topics during each month. In effect, you already do have the opportunity to earn a bit more by posting a new topic as compared to simply replying to existing topics.

I'm not part of the administration here. I'm just another member who sees the need for new topics and am doing what I can to spend my own earnings to entice others to do their part in keeping the lights on around here. If you like ForumCoin and want it to continue to provide a place for you to post content, do your part and contribute new topics. Simple as that. If the lights go out, you will be sad that you did not do your part. Posting New topics is an essential part of site participation.

The whole point of the content on this site is to attract visitors to read the content. We all hope the visitors who come to read content will take some time to reply to some of the member posted advertising during their visits. You can never earn much from the token payments for contributing content. Members who post ads are earning far more than what you can earn just by contributing to the content. Members don't pay the freight of running the site. It all comes from ad revenue or from Fergal's pocket.

If posts are shown on arbitrary way with remove of this message that this article is old and also not every topic requires 5 FC this how is genuine and adding a new value for forum, posting meme posts or posts that is just a question doesn't acquire 5 FC, even reply with generic comment will not require additionnal 1 FC reward. If every post requires 5 FC then forum will run out of funds soon.

I am trying to bring different type of content but it most probably a lot easier if you was to do the following.

Find trending topics titles

And reward people for writing about them

This way there will be a flood of relevant topics that are trending and you get to have what topic titles you guys at fc want.

Just provide a list of topic titles and the rewards for writing about them.

Could be Weekly fortnightly monthly awards.
