Google Project Fi

Looking back to April 22nd of 2015, Google decided to jump into the cell service provider industry with a service called Project Fi. The way Google decided to get into this industry is much like Boost Mobile or Virgin Mobile. They did not try to create their own cell network infrastructure but instead decided to piggy back off of a few major cell service providers. This method gave Project Fi the label of “Mobile Virtual Network Operator”. Originally, back in 2015, they only had a single phone that was compatible with the network and that was their very own Nexus 6. Even now in 2018 the phone selection you have if you are going to use this service is still limited to the Google Pixel 2, Google Pixel, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6 and the Moto X4. This is not a terrible overall list of phones but if you wanted to, say, switch to Project Fi you would not be able to bring your existing phone over unless it was one of these phones. Everything with this is fine except since you are paying for your service month to month you get to either pay the full price for the phone immediately or pay a monthly fee until it’s paid off.
