There are some great tips in that article and I enjoyed reading them. Personally, the best way to break the debt cycle is to cut up all the credit cards, national ones and store brand ones. Then pay them off even if you have to consolidate all the debts and take out a loan to do it. I did this 6 years ago, and the only card I carry is my bankcard. If I don't have money in my bankcard, I can't buy anything since there is no credit card to fall back on.
