New Ads

Postby Fergal » 19 Jun 2015, 19:08

You will probably have noticed that we have placed a new banner ad here on ForumCoin. As has been previously discussed, this is in an effort to generate revenue which will be used for the continued support and growth of the community.

We have also started using SkimLinks, which will place affiliate links in some links posted on the forum.

Enjoy and thanks for your ongoing support!

Please reconsider location as you now have two ads located above the fold on initial page load.

Its been a fact for many years Google penalizes sites that have mostly ads before the main body of content.

This algorithmic change does not affect sites who place ads above-the-fold to a normal degree, but affects sites that go much further to load the top of the page with ads to an excessive degree
I do not think 2 ads like what we have is probably classed as "excessive degree"

On page like this it does make a difference.

Only a few lines of content is unique on load.

It would be better to use CPM advertising which will pay for every visitor to the website, as Forumcoin has a large number of visitors . Increasingly revenues from PPC advertising have reduced to a very large extent, so advertisers who pay for every pay for page view or visitor are worth considering.

The very webpage you link to, has more space above the fold dedicated to ads, than we do. We both have a 728x90 banner ad. We also have a 468x60 ad, which is much smaller than their 300x250 ad (also above the fold).

Yes the 2nd is in the sidebar and is loaded after the main body of content which starts half way up the page with the title.

Both of their ads are above the fold. The point is, they have more ad space above the fold, than we do.

Our 728 banner ad is also loaded after the page content.

It shows and loads above the content for me.

If you look at my picture you will see that you only see the header of the content to a guest. The only thing above the fold is thin duplicate content.
