ForumCoin Daily Post Limit Changes - Updated 8 June

Postby CyberFreak » 17 May 2015, 20:30

Edit - Click here to see Fergal's Update post 8 June 2015

Hello,

A couple of weeks ago, we implemented a limit of 25 posts in a 24 hour period where users could earn ForumCoin. The original announcement can be seen here. After it's implementation we received quite a bit of feedback and multiple questions about how it works etc. After reading and taking on board the comments made, we have made some changes to the limit in order to make it easier to understand we hope.

From now on, you will be limited to 25 posts per day and it will no longer be a rolling 24 hour period. The "day" runs from midnight 00:00 till 11:59 UK time. As we know alot of users are in different timezones we have added the current "server time" which is set to UK time and this is what we use to decide when a day starts and finishes.

time.png (1.33 KiB) Viewed 2541 times

That shows the current time according to the server and the reset time. In this example we are less than 3 hours away from your daily post total being reset to zero. If you hit your post limit for the day, you can either continue to post or wait until the server time in the header hits midnight and then you will start again from zero.

We hope that this will be easier to understand and no longer will require users to have to look through their post history to see when posts expire so they can post again. We also hope that this encourages users to post beyond their 25 daily posts and unlike the previous set up, you will not lose out by posting beyond the 25 posts.

Any feedback on this change will be appreciated. We will continue to listen and make changes where necessary to create something that is fair for everyone and easy to understand. Also, if you encounter any problems or have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.. we don't bite

I think this is way better of a route to go on. 24 hours is a lot harder to keep track of if you are someone who posts 25 times a day. Thanks!

We need a "clapping" smile, because this change deserves it!!!

Congratulations on the change, it's a lot more just and makes much more sense. This way if we feel like posting endlessly, we can
No, I'm not thinking of spamming. I just want to be able to chat around in off topic, if I feel like

VERY GOOD CHANGE!!

I'm one to complain when I don't like things, so I want to emphasize too when you guys make a right move.

Glad to see you guys listening to feedback!! Thanks and Gratz!!! :D ;)

This is a good idea and I like that you guys added the server time. I am familiar with UK time since one of the online gigs I do is for a UK company. Either way great idea. It will help me a lot when I am not paying attention to the time anyways. And my sleep pattern is pretty messed so this will be a great help for me.

I think users who have been here a long time and have a high post count should have a higher limit.

The length of time they have been here and their post count are not really a good judge of quality. There are some users here that have been here for a while but have a habit of posting alot of low quality posts. Equally we have some newer users who post really worthwhile posts.

Some sort of higher limit for users that have a history of posting worthwhile posts is something we could do although the issue is how to we judge quality and how do users get into the group (by request or do we just add users or offer it as an upgrade). That is something we will consider for the future if we keep the daily limit in place.

Thank you everyone for your feedback and it is good to see some really positive feedback on this change.

Makes sense and good housekeeping. I wish you guys all the best of luck in the venture and hope it really takes off soon. Monetizing good ideas can be the hardest part.

What about offering it as a "paid" upgrade? You have a certain fee to get into this group and then a monthly/yearly cost. If you are a good contributor to the forum, you get the limit removed and other privileges of being "premium". If you aren't, you aren't allowed in the group and the initial joining fee is not refunded.

Very interesting. I was wondering how this website worked and how ForumCoins could be earned, seems a very simple concept to understand after reading through this thread and hopefully I can have bundles of fun while posting and earning. :)

Hi, we have changed the limit of the number of posts you can earn ForumCoin from to 17. I do apologise for this, but it really was a necessary change. We have started looking at other ways to increase the revenue on the forum and we may increase the limit again, once we have done that and got them working for us.

Thanks for understanding!

When changes like this are made it would be nice to reset total posts today number. So far I'm on 13 and only 5 left to limit. A few hours ago I thought I had 12 to go.

For me this honestly personally bothered the heck out of my OCD of either even numbers or numbers ending in 5 or 0. That's just my opinion on this. 25 seemed like it made sense, but 17 is such a random number. Am I so special that you can now only earn forumcoin for every year I'm alive? (lol this is just a little joke :) )
