Can I access my neighbors WiFi free?

Postby kat82 » 28 May 2025, 06:36

My neighbor has a very stable internet connection which is faster. I have tried to ask him his WiFi password but he doesn't seem interested since he knows it well that I won't sleep once I connect to his WiFi. So I am figuring a way to find his WiFi password so I can use it without his knowledge. Do you know how I can do it?

If your neighbor does not give you his password so that you can use his WiFi with his permission, you would be committing a crime. Here in the US, what you are proposing is considered theft of service with legal consequences if or when you are discovered. I suppose it depends on how severe the penalties are in your country if you even want to take the chance.

Get his permission and password from him or forget it.

I fully agree with OldGuy and would not recommend using anyone's password without their permission. Perhaps if you offered to contribute towards your neighbours Internet costs, he would be happ to share the password with you.

If your neighbor isn’t comfortable sharing, that’s their right. The best is to respect that and find a solution that works for you.

DO YOU REALIZE you're asking people to help you commit a crime against your neighbor?
Might as well ask for the keys to his front door.

Friend your neighbor, be nice to your neighbor, and then once you think that the two of you are very close, ask for their Wi-Fi password.

I have asked my neighbor for the password so many times. But he insists that if he does, I will no be able to sleep again since he knows me as an Internet addict. With his fast internet, he thinks I will be online the whole night daily. He is a nice friend of mine. We share lots of other stuff with him. He is always there for me and so do I. He even gave me good money when I was traveling to India for my sons surgery. But on the internet, he says no. Oh yes I want to get into his network and also enjoy. This is not crime making

I don't care how nice my neighbor is ... they ain't getting my password! Just like they're not getting the key to my mailbox or my house! Being nice and friendly is one thing. Being unsafe and stupid is another!

Like I said before, all I need is the WiFi access of my neighbor's. Am not committing a crime since access to internet is part of us in the digital world.. I have even download WiFi password sniffers but all in vain. Now that he knows I am attempting to get into his network, he has told me direct that he changes the password every after 12 hours. As of he is determined not to allow me access.

Looking for another way to access your neighbor's wifi without their permission is considered as stealing.

Haha that's true, he knows he would probably increase the bill or finish it, depending on the kind of subscription they are using.

I have to pay for my WiFi. It's not free!
If it's free, why don't you have WiFi?
Do you pay your neighbor's bill? Because if you don't, you're stealing!

I have my own WiFi but the speed is low. Why I need my neighbors is because his provider gives him the fastest compared to me. But am into finding a solution than this many think of stealing. Once I get my super one, then I will not think of using his. And even when he offers I will turn it down 🤣🤣🤣

I've had slow Internet before.
SLOW Internet is better than NO Internet.

When I didn't have Internet, I went to a place that allowed Guest access, like a library or a McDonald's.

If your neighbor said NO, that means NO!

I would understand why the neighbour would not want to do it. Lending your Wi-Fi password poses risks because anyone with access could potentially hack into your network, steal your personal information, or infect your devices with malware. This can lead to financial loss, identity theft, and various cyber threats.

Nowadays, this seems to be a common occurence.

If someone figures out my Wifi password and uses my Internet, my Internet connection will slow down and using the Internet will be more difficult for me. That means I am not getting all the Internet bandwidth that I paid for, because someone else is taking it without my permission. That's stealing.
