The Difference between Analog & Digital

Postby friendociate » 23 Feb 2023, 20:27

Basically; Analog is 'everything' (like all the possible measures on a slide-rule) while Digital is 'a precise selection out of everything.'

(I hate that YouTubers tell us to "put a comment down below," as if their videos are ONLY posted on that page :( )

"Analog" (the American spelling of "Analogue") comes from a wordroot that means "According to Ratio or Proportion Throughout."

"Digital" (Digitally, Digit, Digitalize, Digitalizes, Digits, Digitalized, Digitalizing) is built on a wordroot that means "Finger or Toe (which are each Ten in number)," possibly related to words that mean "to Say, Speak, Show, Pronounce Solemnly."

Right, 'Digital' is "as if the 'Analog'-scale could only point to the 'whole numbers' ('digits,' ;) ) & not all the frequencies in between.'

Analog needs an expense of some kind of power to be achieved while digital just requires just processing to be achieved.

Analog uses mechanical processes to execute the tasks while digital uses codes as instructions for the task to be executed.

Analog data is represented by physical quantities that can vary without limit, while digital data is represented by numbers that can only have a finite number of values. This means that analog devices can capture and process a wide range of data, while digital devices can only work with specific,

Analogue doesn't work with a click of a button. It rather works with manipulating some tools with a physical effort.
