Soon no more Internet Explorer

Postby mrki444 » 20 Aug 2020, 16:08

Internet Explorer was many year top web browser. It is part of Windows. It was good but how years past it was slower and slower, with small number of plugins. Even latest versions were great it could not take bad name he got over years. Now he is replaced with Microsoft Edge but it is still part of Windows, even 10. But end is close. Microsoft announce how support will fully be stopped in August of 2021.

Are sad because of it? I am since even it was bad it is big part of history. When it was on top, it was used on 95% of computers in world. I don't think will any other browser be able take that number down.

It is understandable but it is also sad as it was the browser that I have used for many years. Now I use safari or Chrome but as you said it will be difficult for another browser to reach its number of users nowadays as there are more variety of browsers.

Did you ever try latest versions of Exporer and do you think Edge can replace him?

That is the sad reality of life...old things get replaced by newer ones. I stopped using IE long back, ever since the advent of Google Chrome. But IE was the first browser I ever used, so I have some emotional feelings for it.

If Microsoft made an effort to make it fast and secure, people would have not left it.

It says it cannot reach 40 percent of the sites I go to. I also remember having a virus just by visiting a site. Yes a visit not a download. Explorer is so easy to hack. Remember the I love you virus? You can have that virus by simply having it on your inbox, as in no clicking. That's how bad the security of explorer.

It used to be my favorite browser but now I prefer Edge and Chrome, they are faster and better, I just don't why they can't just improve Internet Explorer so it can be better.

Perhaps it's not the Microsoft's focus in creating and improving a browser. But now they saw that a browser can make money, so they decided to create a faster and better browser than the IE explorer and enough to compete with popular browsers like Chrome, Safari and Firefox.

Maybe but I think they had bad teams or they didn't expect so many stuffs will go online. Even office with 365 version is in cloud.

We are evolving with the times most definitely, everything has it's beginning and it's end so I am not surprised one bit. though I must confess am actually using explorer right now and it is working fast.

It has never even be in mind to use IE. Since Google and Chrome work as I expected, I never think of other browsers.

If you use latest version it can be good experience. Those are very good and fast. People didn't accept it just because of bad name.

Windows 10 the 20h2 release already removed the Internet explorer and the old Edge from the WIndows as well. And now only chrome based Edge is there.

Oh well IE was a pretty horrible browser. Netscape was the best old school browser.

I haven't used IE for a long time. I think that was when Firefox came into existence. Even before then, I was more of a Netscape user. I only open IE to check the compatibility of the web pages that I was making...
I think they trying to catch up with the competition with Microsoft Edge, which looks like is based on Chromium (I'm not quite sure about it though)
