I noticed most Black Video game characters who are not villains are light skinned

Postby Netherrealmer » 15 Mar 2020, 19:47

Resident evil 5 is a horror video game about a Parasitic virus that turns humans into zombie like creatures that attacks with weapons. The main character is the series main male lead Chris Redfield who is a white American man. To make the game not look racist , the second playable character is Sheva Alomar is an African woman with light skin.

The most common enemies in the game are Zombified African people with Dark skin.

I think they should have made Sheva dark skinned, Yes there are light skinned African women but She is a Military woman who is always exposed under the sun, She should be having more Melanin in her skin. She should be having the same skin tone with Lupita Nyong'o and not Alicia Keys.

the villainous black characters in Street fighter are Balrog and Birdie.

Now lets look at the non Villainous Black Street Fighter characters.

Arianna Grande who is a White Italian American have more Melanin than Black Brazilian Laura and her brother Sean.

Elena who is Kenyan Maasai woman and Dudley who is Brittish of African and Pakistani descant have super eurocentric features.

One of the villains of King of Fighters

Their Non evil Black characters.

Looks like a white guy with a Tan

I am not really SJW here but why non evil Black characters have eurocentric features while evil Black characters are super dark skinned.

The strategy employed by many game development companies, in making available all kinds of races in the game is an exciting experience. You have access to control exactly who you wish, and sometimes mimicking the actual traits of the races in real life. Nice preview of the game.

The problem is the portray light skin Black people as good people while dark skin black people as evil. Majority of Black people in the world have dark skin.

Where is location of game? If it is breakout in Africa, it is normal most zombies will be in Africa.
Could we say it is rasist first Resident Evil movie? In that movie most zombies are white. I didn't notice almost any black. Or somebody will say, there is not enough of black zombies?

Resident evil 5 is set in a fictional African country called Kijuju. Kijuju is inspired from Somalia.
They added Sheva so the game won't look racist but Sheva is light skinned. They hired a dark skinned African woman to sing the theme song but they hired a Biracial light skinned woman to be the face model a heroic African Villager. Its like Black characters only gets heroic roles if they have light skin.

Another example is Raiden from Metal gear.

This person is suppose to be Liberian.

Liberians look like this:

It's just ridiculous, in my opinion, and takes away from the story. It actually puts me off watching the movies because it doesn't depict the true story. I doubt there are many out there who like it, so it needs to stop!

These game developers thinks the only way a Black protagonist will sell if they look like a white person with tan. If Asian protagonists can sell, I am sure Black protagonists can sell too. Grand Theft Auto 3 have a Black protagonist but he is a criminal. Movies also have this colorism issue. Have you notice on "All black cast" films, the leading lady is usually light skin.

Look at this sitcom

Image

The wife is played by Rasheeda Jones, A biracial actress who had been passing as white her whole career and now she is playing the role of a non biracial Black woman who is hood.

I think this is done since most car thefts in real life are in black neighbours or done by black people. I think some things developers do with real life but still some things should be changed. Movie is not real life. I think people forget what is movie/game and what is real life.

Makes me wonder why Video Game developers are so Afraid to make dark skinned black people as heroes. Do they think no one will buy a game with a Dark skinned protagonist?

Street Fighter have a new character named Kimberly and Finally a Black woman who doesnt have eurocentric features and she is not a villain.

Image

Her skin is still kind of light but at least she doesn't look like a white person with tan.

King of fighters also debuted a Dark skinned woman named Dolores on their roster. Her skin is more Darker than Kimberly but her face looks eurocentric.

They're simply racists.
I think they just have issues with beauty standards, dark skin isn't favorable to many people yet.
Most people actually still lighten their skin because according to them light skin is beautiful.

Let them make game about Wakanda? There can set black man or women as main protagonist and everything will be fine with the culture and skin color.

Somehow even with advancements and modernization, it's very tough for people to come out of stereotyping and some mindsets..It would be a good change to see some black skinned Hero and a evil person in white skin. Skin colour actually don't matter when it comes to being good or bad.

This is yet another proof that the idea that black denotes negative attributes stems from colonialism.
Such notion is even reflected in religious books such as the Bible.
The Bible holds that people who are free of sin are white. Sinners are depicted as not-white.

If the various industries are connoting blacks as evil, the blacks are not even helping their own cause. They are still constantly doing evil things. This ain't no racism. It is reality for me.

That's messed up, but not surprising.

All black people, all the time? "Constantly"?

Where does it say that? I'm not saying it doesn't, I'd just like to know which verse/s you are are referring to.

The Book of Mormon uses the phrase "white and delightsome".
