Do older computer models make good servers?

Postby Coinlv » 22 Jul 2015, 09:25

I'm thinking about making my old HP pavillion (2003-04) into an apache server or something, so I can host websites on it and use it to develop. Has anyone made a sever from an old PC and had luck?

I've never tried but there are people who do this. I think it's important to try and verify that serves for you ...

My computer is also 10 years old and it is still okay and try to upgrade it now. Just esquire in any computer service centres they will tell you what to do with it.

I would suggest that you buy the latest model for your server. A server is intensive when it comes to processing particularly if there are many users of the network. A slow server will definitely pull down the efficiency of your network.
