My Tryst with AI - The Highs and the Lows: A personal observation

Postby ptrikha21 » 26 Jul 2025, 17:32

Well, I am into learning different aspects of AI - primarily Generative AI.
With a background in Database Management and some DevOps related work, many in IT field might describe as a deviation.
Yet I see value add in getting more aware and being able to use.

And well, this very post is not "AI Generated" !!
:)

Some of my observations and Highs and Lows with AI usage :

Highs :

1)Helping in getting work done faster: No need to go through complete source content (some can take hours to read). Use AI tools and get a summary fast from where we can take it forward.

2)AI can help in overcoming obstacles in form of Organizational constraints, Learning curves, time constraints and lack of certain skills by getting information quickly and with some practice of a good accuracy.
This can be really helpful in IT field but can be good elsewhere also.

For example, someone with background in Java and Dot Net could learn MySql/R etc. faster even without any prior experience.
Also, even testers can design UI with trends like Cursor or Vibe.

3)No need to search on 10 different sources for things like SEO optimization, content accumulation and more. A single point can help. With upcoming AI driven browsers like Comet from Perplexity, it can become even better.

Lows :

1)Too much use of AI can make a person a bit lazy or take out some learning fun :

I have not learnt much of new Python coding on my own in the last few weeks.
Sometimes I feel tired and just leave the task to AI.
Not good in some sense !

2)Many folks could resort to blind copy and paste and might even skip a proof reading :
Many might trust AI too much.

3)Can one trust AI too much : Suppose one designs a Mobile App using tools like Vibe, Cursor etc.
So can it be fully trusted.
Recently, Replit AI accidentally removed Database Records from a system. So well, too much trust can be dangerous.

All in all, AI can be like a Firing Gun that can help a lot but with too much trust and may be ignorance, it can even backfire !

What are your views ?

I consider this a flaw when you learn using A.I.. People just get solution and sometimes explanation but when you learn from other websites you can read and see many other similar terms or stuff related.
Example: If I ask operators in Python, I will get list of them in A.I.
But during browsing W3Schools in left menu you can see many other stuff from python.

Some coders are even skipping writing simple ... If then ... and well people could be getting lazier in many other aspects as well.

Well, I view AI as a facilitator and also learning it as I am into IT field, where things are working in a particular way and moving into a particular direction.
However, I find too much emphasis on AI, especially by big companies more of a "Greed" and "Profit Maximization" effort and this is causing a great upheaval.

Well, then that AI system needs more context and more training. I will also give a try and share what I get.

I also gave a try on Leonardo.AI

You have clearly described the challenges and benefits of using AI—it is true, this technology is like a powerful gun: it can help a lot, but without caution, it can also be harmful. Using AI wisely is a great way to learn quickly and overcome technical obstacles.

But it is also important to continue learning with your own hands, so that you do not lose the basic skills. AI is an assistant, not a replacement for your intelligence. Keep exploring, but don’t forget to verify, edit, and trust yourself. You are a combination of human knowledge and digital power—and that is a unique thing!

Well put — AI speeds learning but shouldn’t replace hands-on practice or common sense. Treat it as a powerful helper: verify its answers, edit its work, and keep sharpening your own skills so you stay in control.

You know what, it's starting to become a reality here that many people use AI to reply. But I hope people will, you know, try to make an effort to make their AI pose sound human-like. They should ask the AI to dumb it down and not sound like professors. Because seriously, you're just making a reply to a thread, but you're still using AI. Ask AI to make it sound casual

Yes, self learning has to continue with AI as an enabler although for gaining speed, AI can be helpful at times.

Perhaps that is why I sometimes feel that many of the AI based automation tools would propel many to abandon self thinking altogether.
AI as an enabler is good, not as a full fledged replacement.

Quickly finding release dates, cast members, quotes, and trailer links is a huge time saver, especially for a writer with a tight schedule like you.

But I also completely understand your stance on not relying on AI to write your content. Personal taste, unique perspective, and your own personal feelings are things that AI can't perfectly replicate.

DC Comics just banned their writers and artists from using AI. They will use AI Checker to make sure they're not using AI.

I saw this crazy AI selfie, Nina Einstein, a fictional character known for the ridiculous things she did to the edge of a table and JD Vance, a real Vice President who did nasty things to a couch. They are in a furniture store.
