Consequences of selling your likeness for a videogame

Postby Netherrealmer » 24 Jun 2025, 04:17

This is Julia Voth, She is a Canadian actress who sold her likeness in early 2000s.
Image
Her face became the face of Resident evil character Jill Valentine. A Cop who fights an evil Pharmaceutical company that started a Zombie Apocalypse. Playing Jill became a positive experience to her. She said her fans are nothing but kind and it gave her opportunities.

This is Sasha Zotova, She is a Russian Model who is the current face of Jill Valentine.

Selling her likeness to be Jill gave her lots of opportunities. She became a Twitch streamer and Youtube streamer while cosplaying Jill. It became a hit and it change her life. She said fans are very respectful and nice.

It seemed like male players are respectful to female face models.
----
This is Eduart Badaluta... He is the face model for Leon Kennedy, Another hero for Resident evil. Unlike the Jills.... His experience is extremely negative.

Image

Women and gays are sexually harassing him on Instagram to the point he makes it private. He gets marriage proposals, and women and even some men are sending him nudes. People also harrassed his brother asking for his location. Also he is uncomfortable of fans sending sexualized fan drawings of him. He is also pissed that when the game got released on PC, someone extracted Leon's 3d model and make animated porn of it. He do not want to be associated with Leon anymore. He is not the first face model of Leon BTW.

Christian Duerre is the first Leon Kennedy and experience also the same sexual harassments from women and gays. He also got rid of his social networks.

The Jill Valentines have a more positive experience, they will seen, respected and idolized... The Leon Kennedies have nightmare.

Is this only happening to the males or has any female experienced this as well? Well everything has it's advantages and as well as it's disadvantages.

Women face models seems to have better experience than males. The fans want to impress Sasha and Julia so they make them hear what they want to hear. The Leons get sexual harassments and marriage proposals.

Hmmm not fair though, maybe they should find a way to protect them from things like this, but with everyone having access to the Internet and so many tools i highly doubt if this is even possible.

I would think there would be a risk that if someone didn't sell their likeness it might be stolen and used anyway, like what happened to Scarlet Johanson when she didn't want to allow her voice to be used for Open AI.

Well it's possible most of them just don't care at the end of the day, as long as they get paid.

While many are ready to sell or have already sold their likeness, there are few who don't want to. Everything comes with consequences, some positive and some negative. At least my selling their likeness, they get the monetary benefits. Else there are cases where it has been stolen and used.

Fan culture can sometimes cross boundaries, turning admiration into something uncomfortable and even harmful.
