Yeah, many rich people own private islands, mostly for privacy, luxury, and real estate value. This has been a trend for a while.

I guess US billionaires do not live in luxury while their countries live in squalor.
You cannot however say the same about billionaires coming from certain countries in the Global South.

@Tendz. Yes, this have been a trend for long. We know of few known Bollywood celebrities and few rich business men owning their private islands.

Yes those that have the money to get lands in these areas do buy a lot of them as reselling them later brings good amount of money

Right now, something is happening in Canada. A lot of rich Indians goes to Canada to buy houses, and because of that, houses became expensive in Canada for regular Canadians. This is like the reverse of the situation.
