I was not aware of private cities. And this is quite interesting to know. Wish they could do more to benefit locals and boost their economy.
However, I had read about rich people and celebrities owning private islands.

Yeah, many rich people own private islands, mostly for privacy, luxury, and real estate value. This has been a trend for a while.

They will live there to get tax exemption and lives luxuriously while residents of that country lives in Poverty. These private cities also run like their own government. So they can break rules. Also they have immunity from Trump's tariffs.

I guess US billionaires do not live in luxury while their countries live in squalor.
You cannot however say the same about billionaires coming from certain countries in the Global South.

Some owners even develop their islands into luxury resorts or eco-friendly retreats, which can be used as both personal getaways and profitable investments.

Yes those that have the money to get lands in these areas do buy a lot of them as reselling them later brings good amount of money

The most disturbing thing is government allow these things to exist when it's some kind of modern day colonization

It's like the system is designed to protect the rich and ignore the rest.

Right now, something is happening in Canada. A lot of rich Indians goes to Canada to buy houses, and because of that, houses became expensive in Canada for regular Canadians. This is like the reverse of the situation.
