Lucky Norwegians

Postby Netherrealmer » 19 Oct 2025, 11:00

Because Norway is a super rich country with a tiny population, the pension every Norwegian citizen will receive once they hit retirement age is worth around $340,000 per person. Yup—you read that right. If you’re Norwegian, you’re basically guaranteed a comfy life until the very end.

Their sovereign wealth fund has now surpassed $2 trillion USD, making it the largest pension fund in the world.

So whether you’re rich, poor, or somewhere in between, if you’re Norwegian, retirement is basically a lifetime subscription to “Chill and Enjoy Life.”

Why so high? Simple: rich country + small population = everyone gets a fat slice of the pie

First, it's one of the countries that produces oil and gas. And they're also a huge exporter when it comes to fish. Remember, a lot of salmon came from them. But despite of being an oil-producing country, they have a hydroelectric tower. So electricity there is cheap. And also, they have a lot of minerals used for mining. And they also have huge forests. So they also provide timber. But they replant trees. So they will never run out of trees. The only problem with there is it has high taxes. But the people can feel the benefits of those high taxes because their population is so small. The biggest threat to this country are probably immigrants from, you know, peaceful religion countries, if you know what I mean.

Wealth is built wisely, not by chance. Norway is a living example of a small, wealthy country that uses its resources for the benefit of its citizens. Its national pension fund has reached more than $2 trillion, and each citizen is expected to receive about $340,000 by the time they reach retirement age.

A major reason for this success is the combination of a small population and vast oil wealth. Instead of using oil revenues for immediate consumption, Norway invested them through a sovereign wealth fund. These profits now cover the future of its citizens without burdening them with taxes or large debts.

Therefore, it is not surprising to see Norwegians retiring peacefully and with the certainty of a good life. It is a lesson to other nations about the importance of long-term planning and using resources wisely. A nation’s prosperity begins with today’s decisions for tomorrow.

Yeah, I read that article yesterday and it made me smile. It's nice to know that your country has more than enough money. However, the citizens will benefit indirectly so we're not really talking of people receiving money from the government. In the Philippines, we have that thing called PPPP which is a law that gives a subsistence allowance to the indigent families. I am against that because people became lazy.

It is encouraging to hear that the country has financial capacity. Even if citizens do not receive money directly, the economic benefits can be seen through better services and infrastructure. National development creates a better environment for everyone.

Regarding financial assistance to poor families, there is a wide debate. Some see it as a help to start life, others see it as a source of laziness. The truth is that such assistance requires good management and financial education to bring about real change.

Instead of blaming people, it is better to look at how to help them become self-reliant. Skills training, job opportunities and incentives can change lives. Together, we can build a strong and hopeful society.
