Hi,
Sorry it has been so long since my last visit.
Due to complications beyond my control, I have not been able to access ForumCoin or run this contest as designed.
This is a final winner choice to close out this final game and to close this contest.
Since I cannot access the spreadsheet for the usual selection procedure, I reviewed all entries since June 1. Yes, all numbers have been selected. There were a total of 106 entries. 20 entries were beyond the available range and were eliminated as invalid.
For those who picked a number from 1 to 25 – there were a total of 86 entries. Almost every choice was selected multiple times. However, the number 8 was only selected one time; the only choice that had no duplicate from anyone else. With no access to the spreadsheet, I had to find some alternate way to pick a winner. This seemed a good option.
Congratulations to Happyland
The winning entry is number 8
Since I have not had access to the spreadsheet, I cannot base the prize on the number of views.
There were 25 valid choices so I made the prize 25 FC.
I will not be able to return to run this contest.
I have no choice but to close this game, resign as moderator and to bid you all farewell.
If you really want to know the details, here is the full explanation:
My original computer crashed due to the latest Windows Update just before the corona virus lock down. By the time the repair shop told me it was beyond repair, I found all new computer vendors were sold out. Seems everyone who could work from home combined with students faced with online studies from home bought out every computer shop and no new inventory was coming in. Seems most computers or at least most parts were from China, and no shipments were coming.
After weeks of checking, I finally found a local dealer who offered rebuilt computers. I bought what appeared to be a good deal, but that computer developed serious problems shortly after I bought it. The dealer offered to replace it with a different computer, but that one was far worse. It did not even have any of my files loaded and I had no access to the spreadsheet.
He reported that he was finding shipments shorted with back orders for most parts, again, due to shortages from China. He was unable to repair anything and unable to provide any other alternate computer to get me back online.
It was already well beyond his 30 day warranty period. He would not offer a refund, but did say he would keep trying to get me up and running when he could get parts. Even if I could find an alternate computer, I don't have the funds to make any additional purchase.
Due to my own vision issues, I am unable to use a mobile phone to access the site. I just can't see even half a line for 2 or 3 lines by the time it is large enough for me to see on a mobile device and no way to maintain the spreadsheet. Just not a good option no matter what.
So there it is. No Internet access for who knows how long. At the same time, my offline work was expanding faster than expected and I found I had no time for much of anything else. I did not have time to miss being online.
So now it is nearly 3 months since I was able to access the site. The dealer has made one more attempt to get me up and running. I'm trying it out, but guess will see if this one will last.
In the meantime, the spreadsheet is so far out of date I cannot use it for my usual data references. Updating the files would take weeks if I even had time to do the work. My offline work has expended beyond a full time schedule and I am supposed to be retired. I'm too exhausted by the time I get home to even look online much less to work on these record updates. Offline work is increasing, so I expect even less time in the foreseeable future for anything else.
With that complication, I have little choice but to bid you all farewell. It's been fun, but life has made its turns and I find I have to move on.
Best wishes for your success.
