As-a-matter-of-fact, my roommate bought some jalapeno jelly today and the jelly was $6.99.
Today, I had some jalapeno jelly mixed with oatmeal.
Remember to remind myself to buy cherry jelly when I run out of jalapeno!

I used to live in a place where a local lady lived there who made a lot of different jams and sold them at local stores. She had a weird sense of humor. She loved to mix several different fruits to come up with an odd variety and made a point of mixing fruits with first initials that she used as the names of her concoctions. I remember Frog Jelly tasted pretty good. It was a mix of Figs, Rasberries, Oranges and Grapes.
There were several varieties with similar games to come up with strange names for each different product. Each was named by the initials of the fruit she used to make them. If she could come up with a word from the initials, she mixed them to make another variety. I don't particularly recall the other names but I did buy the frog jelly and enjoyed it.
Jem Smith wrote:Gooseberry jam is very nice. I used to make it with my mother when I was a kid, but I don't have gooseberry bushes now. It's quite tart, which I enjoy.
I also like plum or blackberry jam.

Next is Pineapple Jam and then Mixed Fruit.
I want to try Blueberry Preserve(they have not named it as Jam) some day.
Yet it is 4x the cost of the standard jams we have here.
I think it is because it is imported.

Every time we could gather up enough rhubarb to take to her, she would whip up one of her great pies to give back. She had her own strawberry patch.
I have not thought about them for years. However, on my latest trip to the store, I discovered a new display of homemade jams from a local source, and one of the new varieties was Strawberry-Rhubarb Jam! I snagged it off the shelf as soon as I spotted it and have been enjoying it on toast since then. Not quite the same flavor but close enough to bring back fond memories.
