Apples, Smiles, and HealthYou may have heard the proverb that “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”, then maybe you also know this related saying: “laughter is the best medicine.’ We must conclude that if a simple fruit has such an amazing quality to keep us healthy, then it must contain at least a small part of the best medicine, do apples really smile?
Apples have a way of disappearing after making an impactful entrance. So it did during the creation story where the first couple were tempted to taste its irresistible appeal. Once the innocent lass had eaten and filled her desire, she was left alone with all her lineage to suffer pain.
So was it for the male figure who hastily consumed his fair share of apples plunging us men into sweaty, hard-working, labor to foot the bill. Not that we mind the sweat, which is a healthy, cleaning process of the body, -just the ‘hard working’ part.
And then, wisp! Apples disappeared like the wind into the pages of history.
Apples Back to the Global SpotlightAfter many years of its invisible presence, apples made a smashing comeback to the human stage, this time smacking a German scientist into gravity. According to the distress signals, a young lad was busy resting beneath an apple tree, when an apple attacked him from above, without warning and with no chance of him defending himself.
The fame spread again, apples and gravity were synonymous and the young man eventually became a Sir. However, his fling with the apple came to an end and the disappeared artist worked its wonder again and successfully slipped from human view.
Saved by an AppleTwo centuries later, a young practitioner, unable to take his dying child to the nearest doctor, started to try all sorts of home remedies. Did he try marijuana- Jamaicans! How would I know, old locksy Bob wasn’t born yet.
Anyways, he tried everything, but the lad just kept burning up with fever, crying out in pain, and eating nothing. When all hope was lost, an old woman brought the father a basket of freshly picked apples and recommended that he try one with the patient.
He gave the boy a piece and left the basket close by. The next day, he found the basket empty and the lad sitting up in bed. What an appetite, ate the whole basket full. So, you bet the old refrain got started here: an apple saved the lad.
Now, people like to exaggerate. They said an apple, my word, no wonder it didn’t work on others dying from dengue or asthma or pneumonia. They got the dosage wrong. It is a basket of apples that does the magic,
