Hungarian-British writer David Szalay has clinched the 2025 Booker Prize for his novel, *Flesh*.

Szalay’s win is a triumph for a novel he himself called "risky," given its frank title and unflinching exploration of masculinity, class, and migration across contemporary Europe

The judges, chaired by Roddy Doyle, lauded the book for its "utter singularity" and its ability to present a moving portrait of a man's life despite its emotionally detached central character, whose most common remark is a simple "Okay." *Flesh* beat out five other strong contenders, including a novel by Indian author Kiran Desai.
