Re: Whats with HBO max and incest

These things sound disgusting. Though some cultures, faiths and communities still practice cousin marriage, things are getting better with the awareness that it is not healthy and inbreeding should be avoided. A few days back I was shocked to read a news here where two brothers have married the same girl to bring back some tradition and culture that was practiced few generations back. That is not legally accepted but the three chose to go for it with mutual consent. Their marriage might not be recognised legally in modern society, but they did it for the sake of reviving the dead tradition in practice some hundred years back. Surprisingly, all three involved in this are very well educated and come from a good family background.

They should all legalize weed. People would be much more happier. Also incest is allowed but misbirth not?

Netflix don't have place where set incenst when their actors don't know are they man or women, trans, woke or what ever.

What does that even mean?

I agree, the incest on shows like Game of Thrones is gross. I suppose it's for shock value.

Cousin marriage is legal in 18 US states. I'm not saying it's a good idea mind you.

People are already abusing it as it is now, imagine when it becomes legal, i fear it would be worse.

Weed?
Do you reckon that the people who use it now will use it more if it's legal? Or that people who don't use it are only held back because it's illegal? It kinda seems like anyone who wants it can already get hold of it, and people who don't use it now probably still won't because they don't want to.

Some things that usually happen when/where it is legalised:
People who want to buy it no longer have to break the law/associate with criminals to do so.
The government doesn't have to waste tax dollars and police time catching, prosecuting and imprisoning people for using it.
People who want weed have access to higher quality product and have better information about it (like how much to use, the same way you know with alcohol how many standard drinks are in a bottle of wine or a beer etc.)
The government can tax it and use the money they make to offset the costs of any health problems it creates. Weed also causes fewer health issues than cigarettes or alcohol, which are legal.

Fair enough.
That doesn't prevent incest though. I mean, people can still sleep with their cousin if they want. There's really no way to stop that.

Most cousin marriages are not out of romance though but out of Muslim traditions

In Muslim majority countries, sure. When it happens in other places it could be romance though.

Does the tradition makes it a must for them to marry, or how does it work?

It’s true that some popular shows try to explore complex or socially taboo topics. The idea of “taboo” is appealing because it stirs up emotion and debate, especially in the arts and entertainment.

But we don’t have to agree with everything that’s shown—as viewers, we can choose what aligns with our own values and sensibilities. It’s important to question, understand, and choose carefully. Art can be thought-provoking, but we also have the right to say “this isn’t for me.” Stay thoughtful and an active listener—your opinions matter!

Shows often push boundaries to get people talking. But I agree, as viewers, we don’t have to accept everything we see, it's okay to decide what’s right for us and what isn’t.

It’s true that some shows try to explore complex topics in order to spark discussion. Art often tries to push the boundaries of conventional wisdom, but we don’t have to accept everything.

As viewers, we have the right to choose what aligns with our values. Criticizing or saying “this isn’t for me” is not weakness, it’s personal understanding.
