Every Winter I have long hair because I need insulation but every summer I am serving Xavier twins from Marvel comics and Mr. Clean because its hot. Going to Barbershop every or Beauty Salon is too expensive. So I just shave my own head with razor. I dont go for full shave since I am not proffesional, I just go for the buzzcut look.

This thing is 20 dollars but and you can use it for long term. Cheaper than the $30 - $80 service of Salons and Barbershops.

Saves me a lot of money for the whole summer. Barbershops are expensive now.

I grew up with 4 brothers. As we progressed through adult hood, hair fell out at different rates beyond the ordinary haircuts. My oldest brother thinned out enough that he looked like he was wearing a halo that just floated above his head but not actually connected. The next developed a small bald spot at the back of his head. He was not even aware of it for the first few years because no one happened to mention it to him. It eventually grew wide enough he was able to see it in mirror images and it is still getting bigger every year. The next brother began to thin out in front and his forehead went back farther and farther with each passing year. His bare forehead now goes back to the middle of the top of his head. My youngest brother was sort of a hippy back in high school with long hair beyond his shoulders but it began to fall out by the handful by the time he was in his early 20s. Now he is a 100% chrome dome and no longer needs any haircuts. He uses some kind of protective noggin polish instead.

And then there is my own hair issue. I was blessed with more hair than all the rest combined. My scalp is not visible anywhere even during a shampoo. When I go to the barber I look around to spot a baldy and loudly ask the barber to be sure to use the thinning shears on top. I always get a glare that just seems funny to me.

I now only get a hair cut once a year. I work outdoors year round. I go for my annual cutting in late March and get it chopped all the way down to a close cut with nothing more than an inch on top and practically shaved on sides and back. I let it grow through the summer and have enough on top for the cooler fall to keep warm. It continues to grow through the winter so I stay warm through the season. My ears, sides and back are fully insulated through the worst of it and then I get it cut again in March to repeat the seasonal coverage. I always give the barber an extra $20 tip for the extra work with the longer hair.

I'm not about to shave it off. Even teenagers have mentioned they hope to have even half as much hair as I have when they get to my age.

I purchased a machine, it was not very good, but good enough to use. Machine was around $10 in value.
Better not shave your head, but use it for military haircut.

I've shaved mine a couple of times for summer, but I find it easier to style if my hair is longer, and it takes too long for it to grow back. I prefer to keep it just long enough that I can put it in a bun or a ponytail when it's hot.

When I did it I used my husband's clippers to trim it myself at home. He checks the back for me to make sure I haven't missed any bits and I do the same for him.

Lucky. It's $40- 60 for men here, and usually more for women ($50- $100). Annoyingly some places wanted to charge me more than they would a man for the exact same cut.

For the first time in my life, this summer has proven the worst in terms of the level of heat and humidity. It gets so hot that my head heats up and sweats like mad BUT there's no way I'll be shaving my hair I just have it braided; that way, it feels considerably cooler and away from my shoulders and face.

My late husband would cut his own hair and he would cut our sons' hair. When they got old enough, he taught them how to use the hair clippers. It's a phenomenal savings! I have 5 sons.

There's a beauty school in my hometown that gives very cheap (though not free) haircuts. I used to get my hair cut there for $8. These days I don't go there any more because it takes a lot longer than a normal hairdresser, but it's good when you're broke. They had supervisors watching them and helping if they got stuck, and I never saw them mess up anyone's hair, but then I never asked them to do anything really fancy either.

Yes this things most times depends on your location. if you can get premium services for less then go spend your money

The 20 dollar buzzcut I purchased save me haircut money for a whole year. if I regularly go to barbers, I would have spend hundreds of dollars for a year

Neither do I, no matter how hard I sweat, I use a ponytail or two braids. I have long hair, I cut it short once, and I didn't like it, so short hair is a big no for me.

Do you use a cap during summer? If you cut it too short, you may get a sunburn.

Nice, am also thinking about buying a rechargeable clipper for personal use but this would be maybe next year.

By the way, the clippers only last for about 1 to 2 years. And after that, you have to buy a new one. But it doesn't matter because you save a lot of money on those last 2 years instead of having monthly visits to a barber shop or beauty salon.
