Ladies, You Can Afford To Smell Good!

Postby Spontaneo » 15 May 2024, 07:30

I don’t know about you, but I have been fascinated by fragrances in like forever, some expensive and some inexpensive.

My loved ones usually bought me whatever perfume or cologne that I liked, but then, I grew up.

I went from wearing fragrances such as Liz Claiborne and Red by Giorgio to this topic… dollar-store scents!

Two (2) dollar-store scents by Body Fantasies such as Cotton Candy and Fresh Musk are only $3.00 but I there is a fragrance mist I just have to tell you about… the Bodycology line of fragrances that sell for $5.00 at my local dollar store, such as Dollar General.

The fragrance by Bodycology that I wear is Cherry Blossom. The scent lasts all day! It is just as good as Bath & Body Works!

The spray bottle is big, so you ladies get more for your money!

Men, short on cash yet want to get your woman something?

Ladies, I hope that you give yourself a little pampering! For $5.00, how can you go wrong? I practice what I preach!

Sounds interesting, lots of designer brand products have equivalents in more generic brands that are much more affordable.

Anti-perspirants such as Arm and Hammer can be worn by women and men.

Yes, it does. Weird that it's gendered at all. But perfume isn't meant to be a substitute for deodorant, and deodorant isn't a substitute for perfume.

I like natural, oil based perfumes (as opposed to alcohol based- you dab them on your skin or in your hair instead of spraying them). The scent doesn't travel as far, so other people don't smell it as much, which I consider a good thing since perfumes annoy some people (some have sensitivity to smells, and people often use way too much). The ones I like aren't expensive compared with designer synthetic perfumes- around $20 for a small bottle, which lasts me about a year. Cheap synthetic perfumes tend to give me a rash.

I know what you mean. However, I personally do not like the imposters.

For example, there is an imposter called Primo a generic of Giorgio of Beverly Hills. Such imposter smells like bathroom air freshener

Cool! I wish we had Dollar/Pound shops here. Alas! perfumes/colognes cost an arm and a leg. I understand that's mainly because our customs duty on flammable items such as fragrances is eye wateringly high :(

I'd wish also. Perfumes cost an arm and a leg in my country also, as they are mostly imported from abroad. And the biological local industries that produce natural perfumes apply prices that only wealthy people can afford. So most of people, including my couple, must mostly rely on simple deodorants (in my case, I still own perfumes from my former country and duty shops of airports). And the poorest people, unfortunately, are forced to go out smelly, as they can't afford to purchase even a soap. That's
Latin America  .

So, basically, fragrances in the UK (for example) can be very affordable. The trend is that older scents such as say Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger no longer cost the bomb compared to newer, trendier perfumes. In my country, that's not the case... ALL fragrances cost waaaaay over their RRP value.

Frustrated, at one point, I decided I'd find a UK or US perfume supplier from whom to buy and sell gift sets locally. As I doing my research, a colleague told me not to go there because she'd done it once or twice but decided to stop because the customs duty is extortionate. The reason given by our tax authority? Because perfumes/clogones are flammable  :? Whenever you order items from abroad, your tax authority may charge a customs tax/duty. In my country, you're charged for every item you buy in and the charges are CRAZY.

So based on that, we surmised that that's why fragrances are OTT expensive here. The shops must slap on a crazy mark up to claw back the money lost to import tax.

I hope that's a bit clearer for you :)

I think we have the same issue in Australia.

I love using my deodorant. It comes in handy especially after a bath since it lasts all day long. Ladies should smell good always.

I use Dove anti-persperant. I love to put some on after a bath! There was a woman on YouTube who I watched that wore Dove all over her body! I'm not sure that I would go that far! LOL
