Re: Workout at home instead of the gym

Postby Kalayla » 22 Nov 2023, 03:03

I workout at home but go to the gym once a week where I pay $1. I think that way is a balance between being cheap and being effective with my gym activities.

If you are living in a place where you have lots of fitness enthusiasts, you all can meet in a central location and workout together without going to gym. It is free this way. You guys can even contribute to get small basic gym equipments.

My Health Insurance Provider includes Gym Membership free with every policy, so the only cost is getting there and there is car pooling for that too.

That's really amazing. Really wish I had this kind of plan in my country. Would have taken full advantage of it to gym passionately and stay fit at no costs. Really a good plan though.

Even without equipment, you can do press ups and normal stretching everyday. I do 20 press ups every morning and it is enough workout for me. The danger is not working out at all.

basic exercising doesn't need the gym that much unless it's free. The secret in exercising at home is consistency and patience to see results.

Being a fitness freak doesn't mean you can't save money on workouts. I am a fitness freak but only go to the gym once in a week. I workout for free at home with used basic gym equipment I bought from someone very cheaply.

I love how we can exercise at home and save money and if you look at the gym fee then you are saving a good amount through it

There are simple workout routines you can do at home and if you are serious, you would see results. Push ups is one of them.

You can exercise at home and can buy some of the gym equipment second hand and that will be a better way

I workout very effectively at home. I don't get to buy equipment. Laxity is always the major constraints but you have to overcome it with discipline.

There are many simple and easy exercises that can be tried by anyone and you will save money and since you can do these at home you don't need to spare time for it

Re: Workout at home instead of the gym

I've been routinely (pretty much daily) doing some kind of workout. I don't belong to a gym because I don't see the point in paying £50-100 a month. I spent a couple of hundred on buying kit to suit what I do (kettlebells, barbells and plates, pull up bar etc). I'm not hugely muscular but I am more than functionally fit for the sports I play (martial arts, tennis).

Here's my broad routine.
Mondays: Kung fu. Legs and shoulders - weighted squats and lunges, upright rows and shoulder press.
Tuesday: back and chest - push ups (wide, narrow), pull ups (wide), bent over rows, deadlifts.
Wednesdays: legs and shoulders or tennis (depends on weather and condition of legs!)
Thursday: back and chest or tennis (depends on weather and condition of legs!)
Friday: Kung fu. Legs and shoulders
Saturday: long walk
Sunday: back and chest or tennis (depends on weather and condition of legs!)

I put "condition of legs" - because my legs can be tired from training already so tennis is a bonus bit of fun exercise.

I've been doing this routine for over 10 years and as a 51 year old am in very good shape!

I have been racking my head thinking of how I can manage time to accommodate gymming. With lessons from this thread, I can find a way to gym at home. I am motivated.

I never liked going to a gym. But then COVID happened and for sure I don't want to go to a gym.

As long as you do exercise and keep working out. You don't really need to go to the gym.

True, to even make things a lot easier these days, there are lots of apps we can download that would help us serve as personal coaches on the various kinds of workout you can do from home.

I strongly feel those that like to be a model or some sort of a person where they need to expose their body, abs, only they need to go gym and others can just manage at home
