Is Your Desk A Mess?

Postby Spontaneo » 01 Jun 2025, 19:25

Yes, my desk is a mess. However, I am proud of my desk. I have photos of my parents, especially. In the past, I attempted to organize my desk. Then, I was lost.

When I was in school, I was working and had to do a "courthouse run" for my employer. I accidentally walked in the wrong door at the courthouse and right there was a judge at his desk.

On his desk was a sign that said "an unorganized desk is a sign of an organized mind".

I never forgot. ;) ;)

I've heard a similar quote - "A tidy desk is a tidy mind". I'm not sure how true it is, but I always keep my desk neat and tidy. I only have what I am currently working on, on my desk. When moving on to the next task I put the original task papaers in a drawer and get what I need for the new task.

On my desk is monitor, keyboard, mouse, laptop connected to monitor and many papers with tasks. I work better when I wrote tasks on paper. Those paper are always in mess and sometimes in dust. On desk you will find aways coffee cup, two (sometimes and three) smartphones and sometimes notebooks.

When I do need to write on paper, I can only use legal paper. I can only concentrate with legal paper.

It's terrible right now. I need to tidy it. It's usually at least got a good clear space for my computer and keyboard and to take notes but I haven't really been using it since I finished studying and it's covered with papers and clutter.

I would like a bigger desk but just do not have enough room in my bedroom office.

I used to have a big dining table that we didn't use to eat at (there were only 4 of us so we ate at a smaller table, the big one seats 12) so it became my desk/craft workspace. Since we moved we don't have room for the big table any more so we left it behind but it was good while it lasted.

My desk was from a loved one that used to be a vanity. If I could only use as a vanity, but need for writing. I would love the pampering and the beauty!

I agree with those words of judge. I have met people in my life who are very creative, productive and well structured in their minds. But their work desk is a mess. They work well in chaos.
I am an exception. I am very organized in my mind but then I can't function well on a messy work desk. Mine is clean and well organized
