Broadband Social Tariffs Can Save You Up To £200 A Year

Postby Yusra » 11 Mar 2025, 16:54

Struggling to pay your internet bill? You're not alone. Many families find it hard to keep up with rising costs. But there's good news - broadband social tariffs could save you a lot of money.

What Are Broadband Social Tariffs?

Social tariffs are special, cheaper internet deals for people who don't have much money. These deals can save you up to £200 each year compared to regular internet packages.

Most big internet companies now offer these cheaper deals. But many people who could get them don't know about them.

Who Can Get These Cheaper Deals?

You might qualify if you get:
- Universal Credit
- Pension Credit
- Employment and Support Allowance
- Jobseeker's Allowance
- Income Support

Some companies also offer deals to people on other benefits or those with low incomes.

How Much Can You Save?

The savings are big. For example:
- Regular broadband might cost £25-35 per month
- Social tariffs often cost just £10-15 per month
- That's a saving of up to £200 over a whole year

The Deals Are Good Quality

Don't worry cheaper doesn't mean worse. Most social tariffs offer:
- Fast enough speeds for streaming and video calls
- No long contracts to sign
- No price rises during your contract

How To Get A Social Tariff

1. Check if you qualify based on your benefits or income
2. Contact your current internet provider to ask about their social tariff
3. If they don't offer one, look at other companies that do
4. You'll need to show proof that you get benefits

Companies That Offer Social Tariffs

Many big names offer these deals, including:
- BT
- Virgin Media
- Sky
- NOW Broadband
- Vodafone
- TalkTalk
- Hyperoptic

Don't Miss Out

Sadly, only about 5% of people who could get these cheaper deals have signed up. Many don't know these offers exist.

If you're finding it hard to pay your bills, take a few minutes to check if you could save money with a social tariff. A quick phone call could put up to £200 back in your pocket this year.

Those who qualify, it’s worth checking with your provider. Could save a fair bit if you're on a tight budget.

It’s great that companies are offering these options, and more people should be aware of this and take advantage if they’re eligible.
