Vegetarian Lunch Meat

Postby Spontaneo » 01 Feb 2025, 20:48

I have always loved lunch meat sandwiches! I have always been addicted to pepperoni. On occasion, even salami. Some of you are vegetarian and I would like to learn from you.

I have been searching online for vegetarian lunch meat and am very disappointed. Either I cannot afford the lunch meat, cannot afford the shipping even some websites require for you to go to their store.

Do you have a specific website where you accomplish your vegetarian lunch meat shopping? If so, may I ask for the name and URL of where I may purchase?

Thank you!

I eat poultry and fish, but do not eat what is sometimes known as red meat. I'm not aware of websites where you can buy vegetarian lunch meat. However, I do know that you can make very tasty sandwiches without meat. Saled and cheese make great sandwich fillers. Would that work for you Spontaneo?

Thank you @Fergal, but I need my pepperoni, even when I have my last dental appointment. I have developed my own pepperoni spread to be prepared and consume with a spoon. I grew up on pepperoni and salami.

However, now after finding the below website, I can have a vegetarian version. This is good. The cost is reasonable too.

On reddit, a person asked how to get rid of their craving for an Italian sub. The person was told to prepare an Italian sub just like they normally would just without the meat! They were told that the craving would be satisfied. I might do that too.

What do you think?

Also, thank you for the reply! ;) ;)

I've tried vegan pepperoni. It tasted okay, but the texture is different. It's expensive though, and not easy to get hold of here so I just do without it.

There are other types of vegan lunch meats and sausages available in supermarkets here though. I know they have them in some stores in the US. Since you asked for brands/links this is a place I have bought from before (it's where I get salami sticks) but I would think the shipping to the US would expensive so you'd be better off buying from somewhere closer to home.

Is there a Trader Joes anywhere near you? I hear they have a good vegan selection.

On pizza I use cut up vegetarian sausages (long sausages, like hotdogs) with the other toppings. In sandwiches I sometimes use felafel. I've had a vegan Ruben with thinly sliced smoked tofu, which was pretty good (and you can get tofu in most places).

Your Trader Joes link seems very reasonable as compared to vegan perfection. Thank you for the tip!

I would love to do the reddit trick and prepare an Italian sub (just without the meat!). Right now, produce in grocery stores is just sky high. Very sad as cheaper to go through a drive-thru and get a burger.

Thank you. Do you mean place the salad and cheese in-between 2 pieces of bread?
