This might be pretty common for those who enjoy traveling, from time to time they might have to try new dishes. Even for those who do not travel much, I believe they also have the opportunity to try out a few dishes from time to time. Have you ever had one you could not eat or you simply did not enjoy?
There was one I tasted while I was in school, I still don't know what that is till date. It had a weird taste and it made me vomit.

I don't like anything with aniseed in it, for one thing.

I recall a time our family went to a fairly fancy restaurant back when I was a kid. I tried a prepared plate of snails --- Escargot was supposed to be an exotic dish.

It was the most horrible thing I have ever tried and I have tried a lot of different exotic foods over the years.

I learned much later that the chef apparently did not know he was supposed to wash the sand and dirt out of them before he cooked them. They were all very gritty which was the reason they tasted so bad but I have never tried them again.

They would be gross if they weren't prepared right. I've had escargot and thought it was okay, just nothing to write home about. All the flavour came from the sauce, so I'd rather put the same sauce on something else.

That could have been part of the problem. What sauce? I only recall them swimming in melted butter! I guess the chef was a real dunderhead.
