Dressings & Seasonings

Postby Spontaneo » 01 Aug 2024, 04:31

Dressings and seasonings are so diverse. There are so many to choose from.

Since January 1st, I have really changed.

Previously, I was heavy on the salt and pepper. I was heavy on the red hot pepper flakes.

I would pour on the red hot sauce, big name-brand salad dressings, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, etc.

Now?

I use white vinegar mixed with lemon juice as dressings.

As seasonings, I use salt-free seasoning and black pepper.

How about you?

Why did you stop using chilli (hot pepper) flakes?

I sometimes use lemon pepper seasoning on tomatoes or avocado (like, in a sandwich). I cook with salt, chilli, garlic, and sometimes other spices, depending on what we are having. I put balsamic vinegar in my homemade baked beans. Tonight we are having burritos, so I'll use hot sauce. With a stir fry I might use soy sauce or sweet chilli. I never use Worcestershire sauce because it's not vegetarian, but I might if I found a veggie version. I put barbecue sauce and mustard on hot dogs.

Once in a good while, I do cheat and have a little Worcestershire sauce on my air fryer potatoes.

Why no more red pepper flakes though?

That sounds like a reason to eat them, not a reason not to eat them. :eh:

Ok. I was wrong. A good while ago, I was told that red pepper flakes have a lot of sodium.

I just researched and found out hardly any.

Thank you for proving myself wrong.

I just had a bacon, egg and cheese burrito. The red hot pepper flakes were delicious! Being that I have been without since January 1, of course the seasoning is going to taste really good.

Thank you.

Dress with season, like light dress in hot season but we can't afford such a luxurious life style as wear clothes with season with clothes color and design.

Seasoning is things that you add to food to give it more flavour, like salt, lemon juice, chilli etc.

I do not mean your clothes. I mean dressings and seasoning for your meals or dishes (as in food) to make taste good.

I like to prepare candied kielbasa in the Crock-Pot. All you need to do is cut kielbasa in coin-size pieces and piece the pieces in the Crock-Pot. The dressing? Pour grape jelly and BBQ sauce on top and mix. Cook on HIGH for 3 hours.

We do use market bought Pizza or Pasta Seasonings on some stuff that we prepare with Bread, Pasta or Pizzas.
Else we have a lot of spices for our indigenous foods.

I typically use salt and pepper, especially the latter. I also use chili flakes in some of my dishes because I want them to have a bit of a kick. Occasionally, I like to add thyme and basil, depending on the dish I am preparing.

I have another recent purchase. I bought a bottle of vinegar salt. I have never heard of such salt.

Have any of you heard of vinegar salt?
