Smoothies, Milkshakes and Slushies

Postby Spontaneo » 04 May 2024, 17:36

I am proud to say that I have graduated!

I have gone from making smoothies, to milkshakes to slushies!

My favorites of each?

peanut butter and jelly smoothies.
chocolate milkshakes.

Today, we shall see as I am preparing slushies today! There are so many flavors to choose from. I am thinking about preparing diet cola slushies.

I like them as they are frugal, delicious and cool on these upcoming hot days.

How about you? Have you graduated?

I never have slushies or milkshakes but slushies would be great for our blisteringly HOT weather. My husband and I love having smoothies for lunch and especially enjoy anything with vanilla/strawberry frozen yoghurt and peanut butter. Depending on what we have in, we sometimes throw in blueberries, strawberries, bananas and orange juice to jazz things up. I've never thought to put jam in there, though... might be one to try LOL

My favorite jellies are black raspberry and grape, but I have a ton of strawberry to use up.

I simply use 2 tbsp of peanut butter and a few tbsp of jelly.

What is hilarious is that I hate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches but love the smoothies!

We used to consume different shakes back in time. Now, I rarely have Shakes since as per some Ayurvedic principles, combination of fruits and milk is not good.
It is of course up to individuals to follow or not.
Fruit juices is what i still take but they are mostly from market.
Some Juice concentrates or Shorbets come in handy during the summer time.

I am not making smoothie but I eat it fruit salad. Most often combination bannanas and orange. Sometimes I add kiwi. As addition I can add vanilla puding or ice cream.

:x Today, I prepared what I thought would be slushies, but turned out to be smoothies! ;)

1. A peanut butter and caramel smoothie
2. A hot chocolate smoothie

Then, I prepared 2 hot chocolate smoothies for the freezer and 2 peanut butter and caramel smoothies for the fridge. I am prepared for tomorrow.

What is funny is that I went shopping for groceries in my fridge that need to be used up and said to myself... why not use in my milkshakes, smoothies and slushies!

I found cranberry juice, lemon juice, lime juice, butterscotch ice cream topping, tomato juice, iced tea, chocolate syrup, eggnog, etc.

Then, in our pantry, we have tons of peanut butter, tons of jelly, coffee, espresso, hot chocolate, etc.

I'm set!

Yesterday, I had 3 peanut butter and jelly smoothies! They are so delicious! Like I have said before, I despise PB & J sandwiches, but love the smoothies! Quite odd! LOL

Today, I am going to prepare 3 to 4 hot chocolate smoothies. I am a chocoholic!

I like to prepare the smoothies early so I can just grab and go.

I just do not have enough ice tea/lemonade pitchers for smoothies. I do not have enough room for such pitchers in the fridge!

What should I do?

Why not make just one portion at a time? If I'm making a smoothie for breakfast I make enough for just breakfast, then I don't have to store anything.

I am not going to dirty a blender for just a single serving.

A few evenings ago, I prepared peanut butter and jelly smoothies. The smoothies tasted awful. My smoothies usually taste delicious. After this upcoming Christmas, this girl is buying a new blender, possibly a juicer.

What do you consider a slushie? Asking because sometimes different places use different names for things. Here what people would call a slushie is ice mixed with juice or a soft drink, sometimes with alcohol. I don't make them at home because my blender doesn't really handle ice well, and I can cool things down with frozen fruit instead.

I recently found a way to clean a blender.

Pour water and dish liquid in your blender.
Place the top on.
Push the grind button.
Let mix for a while.

Voila!

At Dollar Tree here in the United States, Almond Milk (unsweetened and sweetened) and Oat Milk (unsweetened and sweetened) are sold by the carton for $1.25 (US currency) each.

I've only made Nutella shakes so far, but I REALLY want to try making peanut butter chocolate next. It's my favourite flavour of shake I've ever tasted!

I prepare chocolate peanut butter smoothies by mixing hot chocolate with 2 tbsp of peanut butter. My absolute favorite!

My runner-up would be mixing peanut butter with jelly! Any jelly of your choice!
