How can US stop predatory teachers?

Postby Netherrealmer » 19 Oct 2022, 20:03

Aside from school shootings, the next biggest problem of American schools are predatory female teachers.

Just this year 269 teachers had been arrested for having sex with male students. I am sure the President of France can relate because his current wife was his Highschool teacher he met at age 15. Seductress teachers had been a problem of the US since the 90s. It started when teacher Mary Kay Leteurno got pregnant from her 12 year old student.

These incidents are more common with boys since Parents are more protective of teenage girls but are not protective of boys.

I hate to tell you, but this is not a new issue at all. I ran our high school alumni association for 20 years, During all that time, I was in direct contact with alumni all the way back to the first year the school opened. As I had conversations with members of each class, I heard all kinds of student/teacher relationships even way back to the early 1960s.

One gossip session with one of our alumni about one teacher was one thing. You take it with a grain of salt because it was never reported and was never a legal issue.

Thing is, I kept hearing the same stories about the same specific teachers from different classes all the time. The alumni telling me these stories did not know each other but their stories followed identical scripts.

In some cases, those same teachers have indeed married students from previous classes.

By the way, one of those ongoing stories was about a male teacher and dozens of male students stretching over more than 30 years before he retired. He was apparently skilled in giving oral exams. :o

That was all just in the school I attended. The issue is much greater than just the last couple of decades. Just based on my own experience with our own alumni, it is clearly obvious that most such incidents are never reported at all. It is likely those arrested are only a tiny fraction of all that is really going on.

Just look at the huge similar issues with Catholic Priests and alter boys that goes back as far as you can study. Look at the similar issues with Boy Scout Masters and hundreds of scouts. It is not just teachers. This same issue applies in any situation where you have an adult in direct contact with children and no one is watching.

I would say a good start would be to require cameras and microphones to be installed in every area where an adult and child are left alone for any period of time. Add to that a paid monitor to watch a bank of video screens for multiple locations so they can spot problems before they become legal issues.

I suppose an AI monitor would be even more efficient.

The only year where no teacher became predatory in the US is 2020 because of the Pandemic. If you have a 12 year old son and he got his 30 year old teacher pregnant, How would you feel?

I am saddened by these actions since they are embarrassing for the teachers and encourage parents not to send their children to school.

Something alike happened in my country.
Many people would laugh at it as they think boys often fantasize about their teachers and should consider themselves as "lucky". I've never been a boy and I can't really imagine how it would really be like.
In the US kids can't consent to adults until they're 18, if I'm not mistaken. They can drive at 16 but can't consent to sex until they're 18, go figure.
I think some boys don't mind having casual sex with their teachers but will feel overwhelmed when romance is involved because of age and power gap.
Of course, adults should always know better and avoid these situations.

How to stop it? I think authorities should build trust with the kids (the good way) so the latter won't be ashamed to report cases of abuse. Also, some kids aren't aware of what abuse is, they should be taught to recognize such instances (even when it doesn't affect them but their peers) and be given all the tools they need to prevent, report and overcome these situations.

Maybe if they pay people more, they will attract normal people. In that case principal can make selection. If you don't have workers, you can't choose than accept anybody.

That has been a pretty old issue. It might be more or maybe more reported in the US. But the issue is everywhere. We keep on hearing such cases here too every now and then..most of the victims being girls. In fact few shocking incidents from pre school has also been reported. That's shame. I strongly feel that there are more cases than that being reported because still such issues are a taboo in our society and many don't come out to discuss it. There are many silent victims.

The problem is that because social and cultural norms mean that women are often viewed as nurturers and carers, ‘the fairer sex’ and therefore not capable of sexual aggression, students must be aware that sexual aggression can also be practiced by women.
I believe those women must have some sort of psychiatric pathologies, for me it is paedophile.

You don't think those newly-sexual boys are more than willing?

And where's the line between 'paedophilia' & 'wanting "new" rather than "used"'?

What their colleague male teachers do? They have hot blonde near you and she must go and chase kids. :D
What statistic say? How many male teachers work in schools?

--- 19 Jun 2023, 21:03 ---

I am not offending those teachers but maybe they were molested to. It is not easy to young female teachers work in school especially in higher classes in elementary school or in high school. They are looked as sexual objects for your horny boys.

Male teachers know they have bigger punishments if cross the line , the schools are more protective of young girls. The Male "victims" are more frequent since they are willing and they consent easier. The other students also dont snitch the teachers since they want "quality time" with the hot teacher too.

predatory male teachers are actually easier to sent to jail and most female victims do not consent. That's why grooming in the US have more male victims because male students are willing participants. Rape is also different from Statutory rape

The same reason why adult women are swooning over Justin Bieber and BTS, They like the innocent boyish looks. It makes them feel like a young girl again

And the media would always downplay the idea that boys get molested too.

They will even say the boy is lucky if the teacher is pretty.

I think this is a worldwide issue that governments haven't properly addressed over the years. In my country, it relates more to girls than boys. Girls have become bolder and men take advantage of this. I think it's disgusting and offenders should be slapped with the harshest of jail terms. Paedos!!!

I used to be a substitute teacher and I think it's sickening to be sexually attracted to kids.

Now with my experience, I have to say that young boys are very and I mean VERY sexually attracted to a lot of their teachers! Especially those in their 30s and 40s. Maybe they have mommy issues, I don't know.

I can say that every class I taught, I'd have a crowd of boys at my desk wanting my attention before class started and if I didn't talk to each one, they'd be disruptive the entire hour. I knew which ones had the biggest crush on me and it was uncomfortable, especially since my daughter was a student there in the same school.

We did have a male teacher who had an inappropriate relationship with a female student at the time I was there. Some of the girls were jealous because he was an attractive man. Maybe it's a way for a student to feel special? I have no idea. But from the adult side, no way, no thanks and, "no, you can't hug me".
