Should We Cut the Work-Week Down from 5- to 4-Days a Week?

Postby friendociate » 22 Jan 2023, 16:37

Second Thought sizes-up the current facts on the situation ...

The way I'm looking at it: Employees are employers' rented machines. I think about that as I listen to S.T. mention that workers only do less than 3 hours of work within their 8-hour workday---I'm thinking, 'Yeah, but don't you want your workers AT THE OFFICE during the 8 hours that contain their 3 hours of work?'

And I think of the infamous offices that encourage employees to NAP

I am fine with 5 days working, but as less overtime as possible and as less working on the weekends.
If 4 days a week still man overtime and weekend work, I am not for it.
But well, it is a big matter of hot debate and yes, some companies are thinking of moving to 4 days a week.
